Back is still aching from last week. I don't think falling down half the stairs helped on Friday night/Saturday morning.

Been to dentists this morning about an abscess and I had the option of Root Canal with a re-crowning that might lead to the abscess returning for £600 or have it taken out for £47...

So, my 'Gangsta' gold tooth is going on the 31st May.

Checked payslip for first two of those four timesheets. Apparently, it was for first three of those four timesheets, taxed at basic rate, despite being my only job at the time. Looks like giving new employer P46 when they asked for it, a month before starting new job, had caused old job to be fucked over for new tax year. More wages for old job due to be paid this week, also at basic rate, also earned when my sole job.

I am fucking sick of this shit and I want the fucking money I've earned fairly. Is it any wonder people lie?

OK, got it figured out. New job asked me to complete a P46 and return it which I did, on the 6th of March, thinking I'd start there quite soon. They then took a fortnight to get back to me about how I wasn't starting until April, then a bit longer to decide that it'd be April 19th that I'd start. In the meantime, I carried on with old job. Now, new job must have sent the P46 info to HMRC prior to the new tax year, let alone when they decided I'd have a start date of April 19th, because when HMRC spoke to old job they told them to tax me at BR, thus raising my tax on recent pay packets to more money than I was expecting to have left at the end of the month.

Then, due to fuck-ups relating to my old job insisting on two sets of distinct middle men having to be involved in my employment, my last two timesheets for the previous tax year (one of which straddles the two) didn't get processed till last week, and they have ignored the dates I worked and taxed the fucking lot at basic rate. I phone them about this, they say they apply the codes as directed and to talk to HMRC. HMRC tell me they can't tell me anything about why they told my then sole employer (old job) that my new tax code should be BR for them - what I'm looking for is an admission that they applied the P46 my new employer got weeks early, last March.

The fuckings are thus:

1: Fucked by my old employer when they didn't process my timesheerts and didn't tell me they weren't processing them.
2: Fucked by them again when they put last year's through on this year's tax code.
3: Fucked by HMRC who won't tell me why they told old job I was to be taxed at basic rate when it was my only job.
4: Fucked, in all probability, by my new employer over a calendar month before I even started working for them, because other than that P46 how else would HMRC have come to the conclusion I was working elsewhere?

HMRC have no moral currency left with me, even if they have a couple of hundred quid of my actual currency which I won't see back until June 2013 at the earliest now.

Mind you - not that I am any apologist for the HMRC you understand - but it seems to me that your employers, not the taxman, were to blame for this? Scant consolation I know.

Been there, done that. Got stitched for hundreds of pounds around 12 years ago by the fucktarded-ness of employers, when I really, really couldn't afford it. Like, cheers then.

HMRC gave old job false information then refused to explain to subject of the information why. I think I know, but that's hardly the point in that regard. All three parties have been given the information necessary and prior to anything going wrong I have spoken to all three parties, explaining that I'm broke and need to make sure they don't fuck anything up, and given full details of all about everything to everyone, so that no-one has an excuse. That all three parties have managed to make some sort of fuckup so far beggars belief.

Shit going wrong somewhere along the line I can accept. Shit going wrong at every step of the way when I specifically went to great pains to prevent this, also at every step of the way, I cannot and will not accept. Formal complaints going in to old job when they get back to me about my wrongly taxed pay from March if they've not unfucked it, and once I've spoken to new job, either they gave false information to HMRC and a complaint goes in there, or HMRC made it up and told old job, so a complaint goes in there. Because HMRC aren't telling me what's what, I have to wait until I have details for new job tax people (pending) before I can find out who to get bollocked.

Either way, HMRC's "dunno" isn't an acceptable response. I wonder how successful I'd be if, should I ever have to do a tax return, i put "dunno" on it and sent it in. Sorry mate, can't tell you my earnings, don't have the info. Bye, then!

I didn't like being unemployed, but I was happier than this, and I had the same no disposable income at all that I do now. Explain to me again why I get out of bed and go to work in the morning?

Update: The agency that received my timesheet in the previous tax year and didn't process it until last week is Badenoch and Clark, I have no problem naming them because I'll be damned if I'll ever do another day's work through them again. Naturally they use a third party to pay me, so the people applying the wrong tax-code due to the timing of the payment aren't the people who caused the payment to be late in the first place.

All it would have taken for none of this to happen would be when they received my timesheet to call me up and let me know that I was not active on their computer systems. Instead I received a text saying my timesheet hadn't been 'authorised' which I took, reasonably, to mean that my line manager hadn't signed it before they faxed it.

I was told about a month ago that our landlords had had a relationship breakdown and that she was happy to keep renting to us but he wanted to get out of Dodge (fair enough), and that meant selling the house and having his share.

Apparently they'd reached a compromise that they would put the house on the market in June, try it out for three months (until September) to see if it sold, and if it didn't they'd continue renting it.

Seems he's decided June isn't early enough.

This was supposed to be a long-term let - there's no way in hell I'd have started renting the place if I knew we were likely to be turfed out within 6 months.

whats your contract say? Either way it's two months notice which can't expire before the shorthold and they'll have to advertise as having sitting tenants which will put most people off.

Also, verify that it's being advertised with sitting tenants and if it's not tell the agent to fix it before you go to the ombudsman.

The latter might help with the former, here. If I wished to be deliberately obstuctive whilst appearing to be helpful, this is the sort of thing I'd do.

One could also continually refuse access for house viewings, ideally at the last minute because "something just came up" so one cannot be at home.

Suffixing the statement with "again" implies that this is a cause of stress and concern for you, and people don't like to push too hard when it comes to that, and, as an added bonus implies that you've got a particularly stupid child or cat, which epople also don't like to comment upon.

There's often penalty clauses for late completion. gets some pricey.

As I remember it there's normally a 10% penalty for pulling out after exchange, but little else. Completion can still take forever.

Although, I've had a house sold out from under me and it was a real pain in the ass. Having to find a house with a time constraint suddenly forced on you, and having to be in / out / tidy when ever viewings were arranged.
