Happened to watch MTV for the first time in about 10 years last night.

They have a show called Death Valley, which involves vampires, werewolves, zombies and dumb-ass cops being filmed for reality TV. Together at last. Well, apart from True Blood, which the characters are aware of and take the piss out of.
I think it's watchable, at least if you're drunk - it's obviously stupid but there were some quite funny bits.

ALSO. New Beavis and Butthead, starting on the 16th! Excellent.

Yes, Death Valley is funny.

It also features some recognisable peoples, such as Bilson from How I Met Your Mother and Ben's daughter from Lost who is hot).

Anyone watched House of Lies? Tis a relatively new series where Don Cheadle is a management consultant who gets laid all the time. That's pretty much it as far as I can tell.

Him and his team do managment consultantancy for a different company each episode, generally trying to trick them into paying for as much consultancy work as possible.

It's fairly funny. It's not as much about business as I'd like it to be, and gets a little formulaic (they always get some leverage on someone by a character just unrealistically divulging a secret), but I found it pretty entertaining.

I'm a couple of episodes behind on Homeland, but the whole premise for me is slightly tainted by the knowledge that Dr Cal Lightman would have solved it all easily in under an hour.

I want to see Season 4, as everyone raves about it, but am stuck halfway through Season 3, which was getting a little dull.

It pretty much is, unfortunately. I made it to the end on residual goodwill toward the cast (other than Cheadle you've got Veronica Mars, Jean-Ralphio from Parks And Rec and Toby from The West Wing) but really it's just a sloppy, self-indulgent mess.

Community IS great, though.

I'm a somewhat irregualr viewer & poster on here so please forgive me if this show has been mentioned before (I don't really have the time to check back through 75 pages of comments).

Anyway, SOUTHLAND....

Best cop show since The Wire (my fave US TV show of all time).

Dynamic, gritty, very well acted & brilliantly directed, plus you don't need to watch several episodes to get hooked (the one downside of The Wire).

I hadn't heard of this show until about a month ago.
Since then, I've watched the first 3 seasons and have just started on season 4.

First season was solid & each new season is slightly better than the last IMO.

Great show basically.....

I've been steadily making my way through all the series of Futurama recently (well, the first four series which are arguably the only ones that count) - I'd forgotten how splendidly brilliant they are, haven't seen them pretty much since launch, which was all the way back in 1999 (!!!!).

At 22 minutes they're the perfect length for me to grab an episode after everyone's in bed.

I think the end of Jurassic Bark is one of the most beautifully poignant little slices of telly I've ever seen.

Personally I really like it when comedy throws you a curveball like that.

According to Wiki they were going to use Fry's mother instead of his dog, but felt that would be too upsetting.......

In Castle's first scene, he is caught playing with dolls ... sorry, action figures ... saying he was working out a scene for his new book. This was just like Wash (Alan Tudyk) in the Firefly pilot episode "Serenity," playing with the dinosaur figures he kept on his console ("taking over this land which they would then call ... This Land.").

Baldwin had a line during his interrogation of the father, saying the son's activities were his "boy's brand of stupid." In the Firefly episode "Heart of Gold," Fillion had a similar line, when deciding to take on the local bad guy rather than run, he told his charge "You're my kind of stupid."

To get Slaughter to let him tag along, Castle trades his leather coat. The color? Brown, of course! (Browncoats were what the rebels wore in Firefly).

Mid-episode, Slaughter made Castle believe that the former had killed someone, later having a good laugh about it. In the Firefly pilot, Mal (Fillion) made Simon (Sean Maher) believe he'd killed Kaylee (Jewel Staite), then the crew had a hearty guffaw at Simon's expense.

Later, Slaughter throws a gang member into a garbage truck to "question" him about the murder, threatening to kill him by turning on the crusher. In the Firefly episode "Ariel," after Jayne (Baldwin) had betrayed the crew, Mal looked him the airlock and opened the door as they were heading off into space, threatening certain death.

I think it was the browncoat one that i caught up on - however watching it i did laugh at one of the lines and then had to explain about firefly

I do kind of wish Malcolm Tucker would burst in through the door in a fit of swearing, but still highly entertaining.

Looking forward to watching Veep. I've been re-watching The Thick Of It in anticipation and really enjoying it. Just got to the first episode of the last series, which had me choking with laughter at the end ("You're a fucking OMNISHAMBLES... from bean to cup, you fuck up!").

My brother visited this weekend and left two series for us to watch: Suits and some other series that I have forgotten the name of. We watched the first episode if Suits and it seemed ok - has anyone watched it and is it any good? Is the other one worth watching? Anyone seen it?

I did exactly the same with Suits, watched the first one and thought it was ok. Haven't been back since though.

As to the second series you mentioned, some people think it is awesome, personally I wasn't that impressed.

That pretty much reflects our thoughts on it: generally very good and well worth watching but lacking a Tucker-esque figure to spice it up a bit.

RE: Southland, Mrs B and I began watching it years ago when the first series was aired and despite really enjoying the first two episodes we never watched any more of it. We've genuinely no idea how that happened as it was very good and we still talk about picking it back up again sometime but just never seem to get round to it.

Coincidentally a friend of ours raved about this on a recent night out and pretty much convinced us to give it a shot despite our scepticism. I've downloaded the first season but god alone knows when we'll get around to watching it given the massive pile of other stuff we've got lying around.

Just finished watching the first series of Justified on the Virgin box set facility / thingy, really enjoyed it...based on a couple of Elmore Leonard short stories it's a bit of a modern western with Timothy Oliphant playing a US Marshal that is sent back to Kentucky after killing a criminal in Miami. Oliphant is splendid as the lead and the supporting cast is also very good (Walton Goggins is the stand out as well as having a cracking name).

Now I've got to go and find the second and third series.

Ian sad that this is the final series of House, as it is really rather good at the moment. The team has a good dynamic, the token hottie is particularly hot, and Chase is generally being as awesome as House and Wilson.
