We had a Popeye's in Toronto, it was awesome. Never had White Castle, that's on my list. Have, though, had several Roy Rogers, A&Ws, and while it was in Ontario my parents were big Fuddruckers fans.

Actually, it appears that only money charity donations done via a work pay-at-source scheme and asset donations are tax deductible. That's a bit shit. In the US all charity donations are tax deductible.

It's very easy.

If you're a higher rate tax payer, you write to hmrc, not a tax return and tell them what donations you've made in the past three years. Money comes back. You need evidence though.

If you've used a just giving account for it, they do a donation report by tax years for simples.

No, because you've already had the gift aid that the charity takes. 25% of your cash outflow, in effect.

Don't you mostly tour Civil War states? In-N-Out, famously, will only open stores within a one-day drive of its meat packing plant in California (it never freezes its burgers). So it's a West-Coast-only thing. Apparently, it never occurred to anyone to build a second meat packing plant.

Heh - I've not reached California yet. I've got a copy of Captain Macey's 'The Prairie Traveler' which sets out what I need to take and how to get there safely though. Just a case of getting a company together for the voyage. Wish they'd hurry up and complete the railroad.

MrsA has been hearing from many different people that "...it is easier to raise a mortgage if you have one already". I'm not totally sure that this is true, as when I spoke to Santander they were like "Yeah, if you earn X, we'll be happy to give you between Y and Z, how much deposit? oh, that'd be fine". I can't fathom, from any real reason why obtaining a mortage would be 'hard'. Is this, once again, a rumour that has run out of control, or is there a scintilla of truth in it? Ideally, we'd like to sell MaliTowers (South) and hold on to the money whilst we look for MaliTowers (North), as then we can be quite flexible with moving dates and things, but since MrsA heard this she's worried over it.

It's a pure numbers game. Having a mortgage already makes no difference.
However, you do need to have a good credit rating, which having a mortgage helps with.

What do we class as a 'decent deal' today? Provisional chats with Santander seemed to offer 3.5% for the most amount tehy would go to, with that decreasing as the amount borrowed decreased.

No! Not at all!
I'm always pointing at the TV and saying that. The animators have clearly spend five times as long on the tits as they have with all the rest of it put together. It's like the original Dead or Alive all over again.

I think you've probably got more of an idea than anyone, since you're currently shopping around. Our fixed rate deal is up in June, though so we need to start having a look too.
