Good news Doc and it seems to have worked out the right way since it is making the decision about the US easier to handle. I would jump at the chance to move, one of my friends married an American woman last year and she moved back for a job last week. He is going out to join her soon and I'm pretty envious.

Someone at work has a friend who did the marathon in 5 hours 15 minutes. Everyone here thinks that’s a great time so your time JBR, is amazing! You should be very pleased with yourself.

Thank you all so much! Very chuffed is possibly an understatement, but yes you're right. The place was all mine, got it through the ballot and didn't tout for sponsorship on the grounds that it was something I wanted to do, so not quite as impressive as people who only do it because it's for charity. I suspect only anyone who runs under 2:20 is close to making any money out of it-and even then, one of the research assistants here did 2:19 last year but will always work full time. Sub 3 is kind of a holy Grail for reasonable club runners, so it's always been a 'thing' for me, if a distant one-last time I ran a marathon I aimed for 3:15 and got 3:51. And pissed off. All banished now!

Had a little cycle to work-actually easier than walking to and from train stations-and that was okay, just creak a lot when I get up. Tomorrow will be worse!

I has short term (2-3 week) contract. Job before last rang up and said "Er, you wouldn't happen to be available for a couple of weeks, would you?" and half an hour later I've got a contract in the email.

And I'll be working in the Royal Liver Building. Always wanted to work in a building like that.

I was expecting to get £240K for our house if we sold it. However, the chap 3 doors up has a house the identical layout to ours, has just put it on the market for £270, and has already received offers of £260K. And our house is in much better nick than theirs. So that's promising.
