Dawn breaks in Gotham and the survivors emerge from their houses.

It's not long before the first corpse is found. Dimrill is lying in the street, a single gunshot wound in the back of his head. The poor guy never knew what hit him. Hanging around his neck under his shirt is an Arkham Asylum identity badge, meaning that Dimrill was an Arkham Guard.

The next corpse is found a while later and some of the more squeamish survivors have to look away. Myoptika is lying spread-eagled on the floor, with what appears to be a flapping fish-tail poking out of his torso. Upon closer inspection, it is uncovered that Myoptika has been stabbed through the heart with a swordfish, which is still somehow still clinging on to life. Bizarrely, both man and fish seem to have broad grins on their faces. The fish is carefully removed and dropped into the river. A police badge is found. "He's a cop!" someone cries. Then someone else points at the big white moustache under his nose. "Not just a cop," they say, "Myoptika was Commissioner Gordon."

Once the bodies have been dumped into the sewer - the traditional method of corpse disposal in Gotham City - attention turns to Arkham Asylum. Curiosity is sitting outside, happily waving a certificate saying that he has been cured of any mental health problems. Mimi is still inside, miserably scratching froggies into the floor, but at least she has a new friend - Rodafowa is sitting in the asylum, looking a bit confused.

Well that's shit. We've lost our townie roleblock and we're one guard closer to having no Asylum.

I need to go look at the roles and work out who killed who.

Also, does the possession of a certificate mean that Curiosity was released, rather than being busted out?

An asylum break frees all players in the asylum, so as Mimi is still there you can safely assume he was released, yes.

Looking at it, it seems self-evident.

Mafia killed Dimmers, Joker got Myoptika.

Myop would have got his roleblock in before he died, but he clearly didn't hit a killing role.

So did Azrael decide not to hit, or was he roleblocked?

We don't know there IS an Azrael. We do know none of those kills are him as they are townies and he would be dead.

Well, if I was the Joker I would, because I've got to kill everyone anyway and he's a great first target due to stuff we're not talking about today.

If I were mafia, I'd still suspect him of lying about being a town power role (and I still think he could be) so I'd kill him, worst case, you just get a townie and still a net gain.

I wouldn't if I was Azrael of course, just in case.

Kinda surprised and suspicious Gnomes survived too.

Well, that could have worked out better!

Am I correct in saying that only Jeremiah Arkham can free people from the asylum?

Individual people yes, we were guaranteed a Jeremiah anyway though so unfortunately it doesn't help us narrow down the 0-1 roles (Ivy, Cat, Penguin, Alfred, Doctor, Azrael, Mafia rat, roleblocker, investigator are all 0-1)

Actually there's a point, we may have an entirely roleblocker free game now I think. The commissioner was the only guaranteed one.

Then thank you kindly, Jeremiah!

Unfortunately, not a good day for us, as we've lost a power role as well as an asylum guard.

In a sense, Batman is a roleblock, and is guaranteed. Or is that too obvious to be worth stating?

OK, so we currently have 1 roleblock, plus that's a permanent roleblock for those targetted until they are freed from the asylum, unless they are the joker.

We may have an Azrael, who is either sensibly not risking using his ability until there's a clear target, or it's Mimi, or he got mafia roleblocked (if there's a mafia roleblocker).

We may have a doctor.

That's it for town power roles with night actions, I believe.

No it's worth saying, I had to refer back to the order of events to see what you mean. Yes, Batman has them in jail before they can act, which means we still technically have a townie roleblock! Yey!

So Roda could be Azrael. (or someone else could be an idle one or there isn't onw).

In other news, if Mimi is the mafia rat this is going to be an incredibly short and pointless game for her when she defects tonight so I hope that's not the case. :)

EDIT to above - Where I said Mimi, that would be Mimi or Curiosity, given that Azrael's actions come before Arkham releases.

Well there's Catwoman, who has a minor investigative ability.

Penguin can also help the town, as can catwoman (due to the dollar values of the thefts) but thats dependant on them wating to do so. The town are the most peaceful faction and hence less likely to kill them off; conversely, death of the killing roles would benefit the cat and penguin.

Hmmm.

Mmm - The only way I could know that didn't happen would be if I was the commissioner, which I'm quite clearly not.

*Hides crazy Myoptika wig*

I knew we'd lost our CG roleblock, but forgot that we lost it this morning, not last night.

Well, that could have gone better! it's not quite as bad as the first game start, but almost!

I am kinda suspicious of LS now tho. You would have thought someone would have taken him out...

It would be in catwoman's interest to do so since she has a town secondary victory criteria. Let's hope she does sneak it in somewhere.

Penguin wants to remain alive so it pays just to shut the fuck up.

I agree. Killing Lace was not a priority for any of the killing roles - better to have a stab at taking out a better role.

Kinda suspecting Dudley, and Spinglo Sponglo! a bit now, as they are continuing suspicions against me again. Are they trying to persuade the town to off a townie ? Im out of a job now, so defo not worth gatting for from the Mafia POV.

Frankly I'm still just pissed off at your actions yesterday I did say I'd have modkilled you instantly. This is however the last time I'm going to mention them. Don't be surprised if they cloud my judgement just a tad though.

Well, all I was saying is that if I was a killer I would have gone for you last night, knowing for sure that you were a townie, but, thinking about it, if I was mafia then I would know who wasn't mafia anyway. So my argument was flawed.

As a couple of people have mentioned.

Chaps, something has come up, and I'll be around very little until next Tuesday (this is not a clue. Nor it is 'cunt'). I'll try and drop in when I can, though. I imagine that will still be more than some people.

I agree with this. It looks as though they're trying to focus discussion on you, despite the near conclusive evidence of your townishness, and so lead the discussion around in worthless circles all the day. Spinglo Sponglo! echoing Dudley sounds like he's trying to make it sound plausible just by having lots of people say it, so I will

I, too, have my suspicions about Dudley, but then again, I did say yesterday that I was going to vote for CG if I had a vote. And I do have a vote.

I also suspect Rodafowa, but unless he's The Joker, we're safe with him in the asylum. We just don't want to lose too many more guards.

I think the bad guys either thought that the other kill role would take out LS (Mafia lets Joker do it, or vice versa), or decided that the doctor (if there is one)might believe his words and protect him, thus wasting a kill action.

Also, it's in the interests of all evil parties to leave alive those that are suspected, as it takes the lynch heat off them. If there's a chance that we would lynch LS instead of them, then they'd be stoopid to kill him and potentially get themselves unnecessarily lynched.

Does someone want to let me the piss out of here? It's not that Mimi's not charming company and all, it's just that I'm obviously not the sodding Joker now (and neither is she, incidentally) and the chances of me being a Mafia Goon have just been drastically reduced.

This tallies with my recent post, but we have two suspects.

I will [vote:Spinglo Sponglo!] for now.

Does someone want to let me the piss out of here? It's not that Mimi's not charming company and all, it's just that I'm obviously not the sodding Joker now (and neither is she, incidentally) and the chances of me being a Mafia Goon have just been drastically reduced.

May I ask what makes you say that?

Oh, you're right, the Joker can kill from the Asylum, can't he? Bugger.

Well, let me out anyway.

Put my money where my mouth is

[vote:Spinglo Sponglo!]

Dudley could just be talking from annoyance towards me, and be innocent as pie, so I'll try and regain some honour by leaving him alone for now.

None of these comments are true. Well, Mimi is probably charming company, but the rest isn't true. You may still be Joker because the Joker still gets a kill if he's in the Asylum, and I think Kill comes before GoToAsylumDoNotCollectTwoHundredPounds in the night actions anyway. Same thing for Mimi. And I don't see how the odds of you being a Goon have changed either way, why do you claim that?
