Hmm, Thailand is £888 return in September. That's pretty reasonable.

Was that with BA?

EDIT £479 per person using that. might have to think about using someone other than BA, although I don't think I'll cope with that.

Whereas I dislike holidays, in the traditional "going away" sense. I'd rather sit at home.

I'm much the same. I've not been away for a full week (I don't think) since I was a child and it doesn't bother me. I should probably at least use my passport once before it expires though.

I went out of Europe for my honeymoon, and that's it.

Don't get me wrong, I like being in odd places (and I'll happily travel for an "event"), but I spend 90% of my life not at my house, and my house has all the stuff I like in it.

I travel a fair bit for work, so when I have a week off (as I do this week) I spend it in my flat, watching films and playing video games. Perfect.
People always ask where i'm going on holiday if I have some time off, and are always shocked when I say i'm spending it at home. I don't know why that is so shocking, I'm paying for this bloody flat, I chose it because I like it, I want to spend some time in it!

In other news, Costco run completed. £180 spent on awesome crap I didn't really need :D

I am wearing a new t-shirt today, it is blue, with large writing on it.
The writing has three words.
Those words are "I AM AWESOME"
I am, and it is.

I've flown with Singapore Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, and Thai Air, and they've all been much better than BA. If travelling to the far east, the local airline is usually to be recommended.

I saw a man yesterday, between 18-22, he was very attractive but obviously a bit odd, as he had on pair of those bouncy stilt boots and a tracksuit that had 'Come at me bro' written across the chest and down one leg.

The clue is was in the Lufthansa bit. :p

There are many other airlines I would fly with before BA. Lufthansa, Air New Zealand, Virgin, Singapore, Emirates, Etihad, BMI are all in the top drawer. The Virgin flight to Orlando was still a good one despite being a Skytrain to Disneyland.

When we did the Singapore -> Frankfurt flight on a Lufthansa A380*, we landed 15 minutes late after a 13hr 15min flight. The crew were incredibly apologetic for being late.

BA aren't in the Ryanair level of Vauxhall Conference Cuntwittery, but they aren't in the top league any more.

*Awesome plane. So efficient, it was actually a little dull.

"In Asia, no decent airline bothers to dick around anything smaller than a 747," Avi snaps. "If someone tries to pack you on board a 737 or god forbid an Airbus, run, don’t walk, away from the boarding lounge, and call me on my Sky Pager and I’ll send in a chopper to evacuate you."

MrsA wants to book something tonight. I've sent her a detailed list of my requirements:

"I wish to sit on a beach, read my book and drink cocktails. maybe shoot something".

Thank you for the air travel advice, I'll consider them, but I dislike change.

Being as my closest proper airport is Heathrow (Luton doesn't count) I always fly BA if I have a choice. I find most of the non budget airlines are pretty much the same once you are in the air, it's all the shit at either end that makes the most difference to me, and in that respect Terminal 5 easily beats the rest of the Heathrow Terminals.

Only go there if you want to go diving, or just sit on a beach all day - there is literally nothing else!

If you do go diving, I recommend Emperor Diving, where my sister (Tammi) now runs the dive center ;)
And... if you want to stop the locals following you down the street trying to sell you tat, the magic word to say is 'staff', as the dive center staff never buy anything so the locals don't hassle them as much ;)

Thanks. I daresay we'll try to go to Asia, or the Carribean or something like that. No disrespect to your sister, but I don't like diving; it's stupidly overregulated and makes me sleepy afterwards.

I've no patience for airports any more. They used to be tolerable, but now terrorists the shower of belmmerchants that are scared of terrorists have spoiled it for everyone :belm:

So far we have established that the Southern hemisphere is the bit below the equator, Siberia doesn't have an historical cricket culture and South America is a continent, South Africa is a country. And I'm not allowed to shoot any wildlife. I hate planning things.

Nah, that one's XC. Cheaper to enter than DH & I'm skint until my wages go up.

Racing them in baggies & a purple skate lid so the leg shavers hate me already. Heaven help me if I start placing a bit better :D

:)

I did a race and it had chucked it down for three days before. So I swapped my SPDs for flat pedals and wore hiking boots. Up the first singletrack climb I hoisted my bike over my should and ran up it, passing 3/4 of the field.

Went out yesterday evening and had 3 pints of Staropramen, went home, pizza for dinner and a couple of bottles of beer. Was in bed by 2330 and up at 0630 and I'm knackered. Not sure it is the beer or the 7 hours sleep. 7 hours is enough right?

Interesting bit about North Korea

Followed by a bizarre comment:

Quote:
From this article, the country clearly shares one major factor in common with the free, modern, liberal, civilised West - the disgusting and peculiar practice of breeding other sentient, intelligent forms of life in order to then kill them and eat their corpses.

Has anyone seen that Caines arcade video that's doing the rounds?

It's well worth watching. It's not long and it'll make you feel good. It's a very nice story.

Yes. Minus the witch, the crazy story line and the awesome soundtrack.

Apart from that, it's just like it.

We don't eat anything that can recognise its reflection, do we? Isn't self-awareness part of the definition for sentience? Not ignoring the :belm: of describing something 90% of the human population (and quite a lot of the rest of the animal kingdom) do, or would do given the opportunity, as peculiar.

No corpses for me though - I only eat the living. Nothing peculiar in that, apparently. Logic pedant victory!

It strikes me as bizarre that under an article about a brutally repressive country, with terrible human rights records and so on, someone feels the need to comment on eating meat. I can't at all fathom it.
