I'm going to be needing to stop in a hotel in Manchester in about 10 days. Can anyone suggest any nice cheap ones?

What's the budget? We do a fair bit of work in Manchester so the HOCs will be able to suggest some.

I'd like to get around £30 area but really don't fancy going above £50. Problem is also that it's a saturday night (14th). Many places are asking for 2 nights. And frequently over £100.

If there happen to be any Emilie Autumn fans going to the gig on the 14th who could put me up for the night (a bit of floor would be fine) that would be stupendously brilliant.

Whereabouts in Manchester. IBIS is good (near Oxford Road/Deansgate stations). Travelodge is north end of the city on Oxford St, next to the Frog and Bucket and a good real ale pub. You can possibly negotiate discount for 10 days with a Premier Inn or something.

Ibis are asking over £100. None of the others are at all cheap either. Maybe merchant hotel will do as that seems to be under £40. Low rating but I'm not too bothered about that.

That's full by the looks of things. Anyway there's the Merchant Hotel which I've found for £37 so I'll try there. Probably in the morning. Tried phoning just now and no answer. Travelsupermarket says there's two rooms left but I'm scared of booking through them.

This is no good at all, one should always travel to gigs in other towns with no clear idea of how to get home or where to stay, then the impetus is greater to make friends until you find one going back to your town, or to pull and find somewhere to stay that way. That way you get an adventure even if the gig's shit and you can't lose.

Sleeping rough for the night probably counts as losing, to be fair.

As I discovered in Birmingam last weekend, you care when the walls are paper thin and the noise is keeping you awake. Hope that doesn't happen to you.

Saying that, it's a bit of a faff, being a tram ride and 20 minute walk from Manchester (or £20 taxi).

You're roughly the same distance out as pupil, in terms of taxi/public transportation.

I'm slightly further now, having moved into Hel's, but only one tram stop and a much longer walk.
