That doesn't seem unreasonable. Mind you, I've got Die Hard Vendetta five times (all on Gamecube).

Just remembered that I've got ten copies of Advance Wars Dark Conflict (DS) on the way. :S

That Mass Effect 2 thing is downright scummy... if they'd done that while I was in there (which is unlikely to happen again now) I'd have stood patiently moving all the stickers. Except for one, which I'd take to the counter and say "oooh, I see you got some copies of the new Mass Effect in after all!" and watch them squirm.

Part of Games store branding is that the price sticker should be in the top right hand corner of the game as long as it doesn't obscure the title.

They're clearly just trying to cash in here. :belm:

We're going into administration! Let's make sure we ruin any last shred of consumer confidence/goodwill while we do so!

On your marks!

Shame, but it does seem mental the amount of stores they had.

in Telford, we have 1 Game station and 2 games all within a 2 min walk of each other!

That's because Game bought out Electronics Boutique and then Gamestation and then never bothered to close any shops.

Went in this morning. Same shit, same prices. Staff walks in, shouts over to counter - "today the last day, then?" bloke behind counter goes "yeah".

/edit Must get back to Lincoln where a GS employee I know was scoffing at the "Internet bullshit" about the company going under a few weeks ago.

I spent my £3 worth of points on their web site the other day on a copy of Formula 1 2010. Didn't want it, but the points were going down the pan otherwise. Speediest delivery I've ever had!

I'm impressed that they've even managed to fuck up going out of business. I was genuinely expecting to walk out of there with half my iPad fund gone and an armful of shit I'll never play. More fool them.

The management will be hoping for a buyout, and if that happens, then having sold stock on for pennies on the pound won't have made any sense. Game did the right thing by shutting its doors today.

Once the administrators are called in, doesn't that mean that the stock is frozen and used to pay off their debts?

I thought the 'main' fire sale was about 2 weeks back when they cleared out most of their pre-owned stuff ?

43p for me. I suppose that serves me right for all the stock I (borrowed-Ed) when I left all those years ago.

Too busy not being arsed to do anything work-related such as read the "fuck it, shutters down" email, is the impression I get of GAME standard operating procedures.

Actually the bigger thing is that anything you stuck down on a pre-order is 'undetermined'

https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_ ... 4075271000

Quote:
Dear GAME customers,

Here’s some important news about us. GAME Group plc (the parent company of GAME in the UK) is now in administration. We want you to know that the Administrators aim at this time is to continue trading while they seek to find a new owner for the business.

In the meantime, we’ve had to make some changes. We’ve summarised them below. Some of them are temporary, some are permanent.

1.Online Sales: We expect some disruption to our online services over the next few days while we make some changes. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes.

2.Refunds and Exchanges: Until further notice, we will not be able to offer refunds or exchanges for products purchased either before the administration or for products purchased from the date of the administration.

3.Pre-Orders: No new pre-orders can be taken until further notice. No refunds can be given for any pre-order deposits which have been paid. We are reviewing this over the next week.

4.GAME Reward card: We have had to suspended use of GAME Reward Cards. This means that points can be earned but NOT redeemed until further notice.

5.Gift cards: We have also had to suspend GAME gift cards. The value on these cards cannot be redeemed. If this changes, we will let you know. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes.

6.GAMEWallet: the value stored in GAMEwallet accounts will be suspended until further notice following the appointment of administrators.

7.Pre-owned Software: You can still buy pre owned products at great prices in your local store or online. If you trade in a pre-owned software item then you will still be able to accrue reward points and use your trade in to exchange for another item. You will not be able to trade in pre-owned software for cash. If this changes, we will let you know. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes.

8.Pre-owned Hardware: We have had to suspend trade in for pre-owned hardware at this time. If this changes, we will let you know. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes.

9.Click and Collect titles: We have had to suspend this service. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes.

MJA Jervis and SD Maddison have been appointed as Joint Administrators of The GAME Group plc, Game Stores Group Limited, Gameplay (GB) Limited, Game (Stores) Limited, Games Station Limited, Game (Retail) Limited and Gamestation Limited on 26 March 2012 to manage their affairs, business and property as their agents and without personal liability. MJA Jervis and SD Maddison are licensed in the United Kingdom to act as insolvency practitioners by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

277 stores close, 40% of workforce axed. Pretty long odds for a White Knight rescuer now.
