AND, the 18th of March is supposed to be DavPaz Day, ffs.

I feel the same about mother's day as I do about every other pointless commercialised card day. Sometimes I send my mum flowers at a random time of year to say she's an ace mum, because I consider it infinitely more thoughtful than 'Here is your card on the designated day, because I'm uninspired and unoriginal'. Getting something like that when you're not expecting it has so much more of an impact.

Fuck commercialised card days.

Every day is mother's day. She is so lucky to have had the gift of beautiful children, she should be fulfilled with that sense of wonderment and thankfulness every day.

I rang my mum today to see how she was. I reminded her that I don't hold with mother's day and she said 'Yeah I know, you never have, that's fine' and stuff, because y'know, my mum is ace.

And then she cried. Bitter, salty tears.

Mummy Afterthought didn't comment that my handwriting in her card looked suspiciously like MrsA's.

Mum got her card, hurrah! It has a monkey on it. I was born in the year of the monkey.

I added a general exhortation to go see The Muppets, as it was still showing in Batley. Wise words from me there.
