Just been picking over the still fresh corpse in Liverpool. Not that much on offer, but did get Blur and Deus Ex: HR for £15. What was good was the guy behind the counter changed the tatty looking Deus Ex for a shiny (and looks brand new TBH) Augmented Edition for no extra pounds whatsoever. What a good chap.

Ah, the one with staff that are able to form full sentences. Good choice. The one in Clayton Square appears to the borstal of Game shops.

I went into Gamestation in Wolverhampton on Saturday. I was greeted by a strange man who was happy to crawl about on his hands and knees to see the games on the bottom shelf.

Also, the staff there were surly bastards who were too “cool” to speak to people whilst serving them. They practically threw my games at me across the cash desk without even a grunt.

I also had this thought. At a penny each with the kind of daily variation, if they hit 2p you've just doubled your money.

Quick trades only though, I really suspect Game won't come back from this long term.

MVC reports that the price per share dropped as low as 0.5p, but has since risen to 1.5p. Over 245 million shares have changed hands so far today, compared to just 10 million per day before.

That means if you invested £500 at a certain time this morning, you'd have £1500 now. Or y'know, £30k from £10k, and so on. High risk, high profit potential.

I don't have enough cash to piss around with and potentially lose, so I can't justify it.

Yes, but it's still 600 in the UK (http://m.guardian.co.uk/business/2012/m ... pe=article) and that's still a lot more than CEX.

I've only ever seen two, I think. one is Leeds, the other in Aylesbury.

I've only ever seen one, in Swindon. According to the website my nearest shop is fifty miles away.

I've only recently heard of Grainger Games. I've never seen one of their shops.

Newcastle... Grainger market. Hence, Grainger games.

Anyway, they're just the same as GAME only with much cheaper furnishings and their shops smell like a teenager's masturbatorium. Their prices are just as ridiculous as GAME's.

Everyone knows Chips is the best "indie" game store chain. I used to spend hours in their Stockton shop on a Saturday looking at the Jap import stuff I couldn't afford. Those were the days.

Image

The shop on the right - Popcorn - was connected to Chips via an internal door, despite technically being a separate shop. It sold nerdy stuff. It was basically a movie/comic book store. It was awesome. As you can see, it was To Let when this picture was taken in 2006. Closed down shortly after. :(

In the North, Grainger Games is where you go to buy back your games after the insurance has paid up from your burglary.

That's Silver Street in Stockton. The high street is further up the road (right of the image), and the river is further down (left).

There's a Chips here in Newcastle-under-Lyme but I'm always amazed at how it stays open - it's away from the high street so there's no passing trade and it's usually very quiet. Their prices aren't the best either.

The Royal Oak. I used to watch my football in there. Fun evening once when a window came in and a grenade landed on the carpet. Didn't go off, mind.

Strange for the area, Chorlton's quite gentrified and Notting Hill about itself. Best place I've ever lived, bar none.

Indeed. When we were staying with pupil for Manc-meet-o-part-two, we were very impressed by Chorlton. It felt like Paris, and we wished we'd had time to go and explore all the cafe-style pubs.

Gamestop are rumoured to want to pay 12p per share for Game. Sounds like a nice little earner for those who bought at 0.5p.

I found my old Game Reward Card, the catalyst of this thread.

I'd stuffed it into an obscure pouch in my wallet due to it splitting during its tenure as an ice scraper.

I had an e-mail from Gamestation last night congratulating me on purchasing my first pre-owned item with my Gamestation Elite card.

I do have an Elite card, although from a couple of years ago, and I've never used it. And I've not set foot in Gamestation for many months, let alone purchase anything.
