I have a question, do people prefer games with active roleplaying in them, or not?
I think people like the idea of them, but quickly get bored of actually doing it and revert back to posting as themselves. Which is totally fine, but if that is the case then I won't put quite so much effort in building characterisations in future

Sometimes I think posting character hurts the game in fact, as it does make it less accessible.

I like it but then I usually die early anyway.

Whereas i'm generally rubbish at it so switch more to playing as 'me'

I think some people are very good at staying in character - and as an observer that tends to be more entertaining - however as it gets closer and closer to the end most of that goes out the window.

The big thing as always will be to make sure people actually talk (and not just try to hide in the shadows)

Troops, I was hoping to be off a 'critical path' at work by now, but am not yet and won't be for another month at least. It would be a mistake to try to fit in a Mafia game while so busy, so if you want to run your one now, please do!

Heh, ironically, work has picked up significantly this week, so I most likely wont get this written by next week as planned, expect a weeks delay people!

Had some time today, the game is pretty much written and will start on Monday.

If it makes any difference, this game will have games to play each day, prizes to win, and will be in an endless day format, so no waiting forever for night actions.

Endless day rules
Voting rules are the same as always.
There will be no night phase.
"Night" actions can be given at any point, at 2pm each day there will be a cutoff and the actions that have been given to me by then will be actioned, if you have sent me an action, you can change it at any point up until 2pm, but after that it is locked until the next day starts. The next day will start immediately (or as soon as I work out what the actions mean and get a chance to start a new thread for the "day")
There will be a long weekend as usual.
If there is a lynching during the day, then the lynch time becomes the day cutoff, and all actions received by that point will be actioned.

How can you say that there will be a long weekend, when the days will be endless?

There won't be a predetermined 2pm cutoff during the weekend. So unless there is a lynching the "day" will last all weekend, but that is the same as a normal game in that respect.

If it's a short day due to an obvious scummer getting lynched, will the next day roll over without night actions if people have not had time to get them in?

It will, however people can preload actions if they wish...

Rules and discussion thread up and running. Pretty much a bog standard basic game, apart from the "Endless Day" rules.

Turns out DavPaz did all the work, and I've not yet actually worked out how to do things other than approve spam accounts.
