So has anyone played Stronghold Kingdoms?

Image

I started playing it a few months back on the 1st beta world they created and it is a interesting version of the castle building strategy game, knocked up by Firefly studios. Its a 'free to play' MMO that is based in 14th century Britain, you start as a village idiot with a barn and strive to build a empire. Not only do you need to build up your own community including industrial structures, agriculture and military, but at a much larger scale you’ll need to be able to get along with and work alongside your neighboring teamates. Strategically combining your resources and defenses so that your parish can flourish and so that the parish can have a very strong and powerful castle. Don’t want to join a parish? That’s fine…you can also provide protection or even resources to your neighbors in exchange for a fee.

They do a have a purchase card system so some players will advance through the ranks in the game faster than people who don't plunder the bank accounts of parents but i haven't found that to be too much of a inconvenience to the game.

Anyway the reason i am mentioning this now is that Firefly have just rolled this out via steam so there is a nice new player base joining at the moment and they have opened up a new world (World 3) so it is a very good to start if interested.

If people from beex fancy joining world 3 to have a look then i have a village in Kent at the moment (I would suggest we all try to go for the same area so we can trade and support each other). My player name is Decardo, in the parish of Meopham. A ok ish beginners guide and the Wiki is also helpful

Tut. No villages available in Staffordshite, so I'm sandwiched between Abergavenny and Blaenavon.

Can you ensure that your peasants have to leave a lot of space where the fields meet roads, so when the A4042 gets built 1,000 years later there's room for a passing lane so those of us with cars that can actually accelerate and/or motorcycles can get past some pockmarked tart in her Ford Kack?

Oooh! Good point! I might leave some room for extra lanes on the York trunk roads.

So far: less shin kicking than an MMO, more bar graph filling.

Tutorial appears to be very much stuck. I get as far as learning to research stuff, and nothing else happens. Oh well.

It is very much identical to the older Stronghold games, isn't it?

I installed the client and it downloaded, but then it froze up on me on the login screen, so I played some Dynasty Warriors. Will try again tomorrow!

Somebody's left tonnes of Ale in a wood outside Abergavenny. Does this happen a lot round by you? Somebody else has left tonnes of cheese in a field outside Pontypool. THAT WOULD BE WHERE CAERPHILLY IS THEN LOLLLI!

I've sent out some peasants to knack some wolves. I hope they survive, surprisingly. This is very good indeed. First free-to-play thing I've even considered flinging money towards. I'm totally going to send out invites to all you plebs in my email contact book.

I logged on tonight, and there were 15 bands of roaming baddies nearby! They appear to have attacked several times but without doing anything that I can see. Also I had lots of starving peasants with nowhere to sleep.

I can't wait to see what they make of the severn estuary. I'm hoping he'll drown.

Not quite sure how they plan to cross the Severn Estuary at this point.

A bit disappointed with the fletcher. Makes one bow every 6 hours at a cost of 100 wood per bow. Ouch.

surprisingly ok as a MMO bar filler game, the fletcher starts off pretty poor, but if you have a half decent parish steward then they will build a Fletcher's guild in the parish capitol and you can help donate goods to upgrade it, this will make all villages in the parish better at making bows, same for all types of resource, also your own tech level affects it.

A quick shufty around my parish reveals I am the most advanced and bestest in there. 4/5 of the other villages appear to be idle/not advancing at all. TUT AND FLIMSHAW

aye, same in my parish, give it a few days and the inactives will be kicked from the game and you will hopefully get more active players added to your parish.

are you still under the 3 day beginner protection? If so he will be fine, but worst case at this stage in the game is some honour loss, but beating attacks back can get you a huge honour boost

So far they've turned up, I've instantly been told I've lost, then they go away. I'm hoping by this time tomorrow I've got an arrer man on each of my towers. Hopefully.

I repulsed an attack! With just 2 arrer chuckas. Pleased with that, although I noticed quite a lot of my walls are red. :S

In the 'castle construction options' section (click it to open it up) on the right hand side of the castle screen click on repair to fix the damaged sections, also in the same section under the advaced options you can get the game to memorise your castle layout and troop layouts so that with one click you can replace damaged/destroyed walls and troops (as long as you have the troops and resources available)

Never leaving auto-trade on again. Fucking game shipped out 4000 wood to my parish capital! Bloody things taken me 7 trips of apples to be able to buy it all back again.

Not too much of a problem for me. I've invested quite heavily into Scouts, so I just drain any stockpile in reach and sometimes they refresh into building materials ones.

Some tit complaining I was "stealing his resources" and attacking bandit camps before he could get there. I've just been utterly crippled by an entire faction attacking my main village together. I think that'll do me. Standard MMO arseholes coming out of the woodwork now.
