In May 2007 I bought a Wii. In March 2008 I bought an XBox 360. Needless to say, since then I've bought Wii Fit and Wii Sports Resort and that's that.

Did anything good come out in the last four years? No, seriously, did anything? With my cheevos at slight risk of being lost in the ether while my Live account is suspended, I thought I'd try some Wii, seeing as it's been sat there for four years accumulating shit Miis of minor celerities and allowing random friends to fuck up my Animal Crossing town.

I enjoyed Mario Galaxy and resident evil 4.

But that's about it.

Even after softmodding the wii I couldn't really be bothered to find anything and try it.

House of the Dead: Overkill was fucking excellent. Mad World was all right.

Little King's Story is fantastic, and I really like the Paper Mario games, too. And Mario Kart.

I believe, as gamers, we should try and experience all that gaming has to offer so I stuck with the Wii longer than most. It annoyed me intensely though that the GameCube released ten of the best games ever made but the Wii was content to farm out party game after party game. I'm struggling to think of anything I've really enjoyed 'cept Mario Galaxy 1& 2.

I liked the Resident Evil light gun games (revelations, it might have been called). If you're a fan of Resi you could do much worse than spend an afternoon going through your favourite Resi locations in first person.

Metroid Prime 3 was shit but the Team Ninja Metroid was pretty aces.

No More Heroes is alright too. Mad World is worth a go.

No, I'm struggling.

Ooh, just thought, get Dead Space Extraction! That is ber-illiant! That's the one you need to play. Get it. Get it now.

Both Mario Galaxies and New Super Mario Bros if you're into that sort of thing.

Kirby's Epic Yarn is fucking gorgeous, and rather fun.

The Metroid Prime Trilogy collection is great, if you can track it down (although I'd say the second is the weakest).

I really liked Boom Blox, and it's sequel is good too.

There's a complete collection of all the Bit Trip games coming to the Wii on a disc (or they're available individually as downloads).

MadWorld is brilliant, but pretty damn brutal and over the top violent.

Excite Truck is one of my favourite racing games from the last few years.

Oh yeah, Excite Truck was fun, but sometimes I felt I was fighting the controls a bit.

I bought No More Heroes second hand, and never even played it. I have a feeling it's been slung in a box in the loft, probably still in the Game plastic bag.

The music was awful though. At least it allowed music to be played via the SD card slot.

I've still got a good few unplayed Wii games that I keep meaning to get around to - Madworld, Little King's Story (sorry Mimi!), No More Heroes, Wii Music, HOTD:Overkill and a good few more.

Oh, I own Pirates! for it apparently. I should give that a go.

If you like fighting games then Tatsunoku vs Capcom is excellent.. And it's a Wii exclusive too.

I softmodded mine a while ago and have 1000 games on a 2TB HD

I play Mario Kart and New Super Mario Bro's with my wife, and pretty much the same games with my brothers kids.

I unplugged the WII 6 months ago and no-one noticed.

If any one says shall we play on the Wii, I point to the shiny new kinect.

If you're into RPGs, Xenoblade Chronicles by all accounts is the best game ever ever. Or at least, it's supposed to be very good indeed. Probably the only reason I regret selling my Wii at this point. Would've really liked to check it out.

I've heard the same but can't find a copy in the shops! It sounds very Team ICO, fighting on the backs of long dead behemoths. I'll finish Zelda and then seek it out with more vigour.

Little King Story Vita dated for Japan

Konami has apparently confirmed a release date for Little King Story for PlayStation Vita in Japan, announcing it’ll release on March 29 for ¥6,480. This is according to a Japanese retailer (via Andriasang). LKS Vita is a sequel to the 2009 Wii original, released by Marvelous in Japan and Rising Star in Europe.

I think I've got Dead Space: Extraction on original... when my XBox RRoD'd a couple of years ago I bought this the next day to see me right while MS fixed my 360. Of course, the next day I went and bought a second 360, so it never got much attention.

How much space do you need for a Kinect? There's about 11 feet from TV to the wall in this living room. What angle do you need?

If you can recall my living room, I've got the Kinect set up under the TV and there's just enough room.

Knock through a wall and have a kitchenette. You might just have enough room.

Best build a conservatory to be safe.

Erk - 12' is the distance from my Kinect camera to the opposite wall - you've got to take into account that it won't exactly be flush with the plasterwork.
Like I said, I've just got enough room, so it's too close for me to call really.

Can you borrow one?

I think I will. I measured the distance by lying down on the floor as the tape measure is still in a box somewhere. I'm quite surprised how big the room is, to be honest.

I could stick it in the shelf over the TV, it'd be about four and a bit feet from the ground, and push it back about six inches. I'll check out a lend/hire over the weekend.

The Wii is in a box in the loft.

Obviously a consideration would be the addition of massive furniture encroaching on your 12 foot.

About that. Putting the Kinect on top of the TV shortens the distance.

I reckon it's arguably actually worth getting a Wii for someone who hasn't played any of the games.

There's two utterly fantastic Mario Galaxy games, which are the best thing ever unless you're dead.
There's two full Zelda games, which whilst not doing anything different at all (grrr) they are still some of the best games out there. I'm sure that if someone hadn't played a Zelda game before they'd both be fantastic.

Also:
- I know Excite Truck is highly regarded.
- Goldeneye is a good shooter, if redundant.
- Super Paper Mario is lovely.
- NSMB is good.
- Wario Ware is great fun.
- The last 'update' of Resi 4 is special. Of course, if you can include that, you can include Gamecube games like Pikmin as well.

Point is, if the Wii is shit, so is the PS3. It's the only console I've bought and gone back to the previous machine (360) after a month. I use the PS3 more than the Wii, but only because it's a good media centre. Whenever Nintendo release something good, the Wii gets used again. If a good game comes out forthe PS3, I get it on the xbox or not at all.

I think there was a Wii update for Pikmin, too.

I generally agree, although I would say buying a Wii right now wouldn't make much sense, since the backwards compatible (and probably only around £200) Wii-U is out later this year. Unless you get a Wii for dirt cheap.

Dunno if it'll be £200. Wasn't the 3DS £250? Then again, the 3DS was a bit of a fail.

They did a Wii Pikmin 2, as well as 1, but I'm yet to find it <£25.

Here's another one: Metroid Prime 3, if you can stand the controls. Edit: or, on fact, any good Wii game, if you can stand the controls.

Metroid Prime 3 was terrible. The loneliness of 1 & 2 lost to trite companion characters ruining the atmosphere.

What on earth? Why, or how would candles make the Wii "work"?

Because the bar is just two infra-red lamps. It's well documented you can use candles/tealights as a replacement.

So how does a guy who's been playing games all his life not know that, yet some kid does? Ah.. I get it.. because he's silly. That's why.
