Beats me. I plug my XBOx into my telly via scart and it fills the 16:9 screen nicely. Well, I say nicely. It's a fuck ugly image. I stick the same game on the 360 instead and it's a much nicer image but there's a fat chunk o'black up either side of the screen. Can't shift it.

Ideas?

/edit BRAINWAVE - It's a 480p thing, perhaps?

Check the output settings on the xboxens.

Press the 'aspect' button (may be called something else) on the telly remote. Also delve through the telly settings menus.

Sorry I can't be more specific, you'll just have to fiddle with it.

Basically, your 360 is outputting a widescreen image to your telly constantly that fills the screen perfectly. When you run Xbox games on it, they're displayed at a 4:3 resolution within that larger widescreen image. Unless your telly has a zoom function, you're not gonna be able to change that because your telly is going to stretch/squash/zoom the whole image which is a 16:9 black screen with a 4:3 game in the middle.

Your old Xbox is only outputting that 4:3 image without a black frame around it and your telly can stretch and squash that image to fit the full screen.

You're probably not going to be able to fix it, because as far as your telly is concerned, it's receiving a perfect widescreen image. It's the 360 that is creating the black bars, not your telly.

Nah, 480p goes all weird.

I think I should get a component cable for my original XBox.
