Dear vegans,
I both admire your self-control and pity you to equal measure due to your refusal to eat cheese. But I have some questions!
1) Why are you a vegan?
That's a fairly simple question (although I suspect the answer might not be so easy).
The next questions come as I've just got out of the shower, and I noticed that my lime shower gel stated it was suitable for vegans. This got me wondering:
2) Are other products marked in this way? Lipstick, maybe, or cleaning stuff?
3) What "normal" stuff would surprise me by not being suitable for vegans?
The final one is just because I like beer:
4) Do you drink beer that doesn't have fish in, like Carlsberg?

I encourage people to be vegans, as it leaves more delicious animal products for me.

Veganism is more like Straight-Edge, where its up to the individual on what they class as acceptable. CM Punk, the most famous Straight-Edge in the world doesn't drink, smoke, or take illegal drugs, but is a caffeine junkie (he has a pepsi tattoo!) and takes prescription drugs. He also has no problem with others drinking etc, well he's best buds with Colt Cabana and Samoa Joe, and they're legendary beer monsters. (half his funny stories are 'I went to a club with Colt, Joe, random other wrestlers, they get wrecked, hilarity ensues')

So I think its pretty pointless to ask 'what's vegan friendly?' as outside the obvious, it will vary from person to person. I seem to remember a talking to someone who was vegan, who wore wool, because she grew up on a sheep farm, and only wore wool from there. I was drunk at the time.

I'd have thought vegan was more cut and dry, though. It's animal(-originated) products.

'Straight edge' is just a thing Ian McKaye came up with as an angry kid and since renounced, which lots of self-righteous angry kids since latched on to.

No offence to any straight edgers.

Does that answer question three? All I can see is a group of people patting themselves on the back for not being vegan, or something.

Yeah :) With added Dudley!

Question 3: quite a lot of stuff. It seems that milk extracts / whey etc is a very low cost commodity and they try to put it into as much stuff as possible. You frequently find it's sneakily been added to a product you've been buying for years, for no obvious reason, not even under the guise of "new improved recipe" :S

And a lot of stuff isn't even vegetarian, like some beers, sweets. Gotta look at the ingredients. http://www.cookingforvegans.co.uk/shopp ... ducts.html
