I was at another Jamie Oliver place tonight, Barbecoa in the city. It was profoundly mediocre.

Okay, I'm grumpy. Why? Because food is no longer interesting. Why? Because due to my impending filling (tooth filling, Zardoz) I'm naturally favouring one side of my mouth when I eat (because the other side fecking hurts). However... for some reason nothing tastes the same. It's weird, and it's not something I ever thought was possible, but food doesn't taste the same when you only chew it on one side of you mouth. Try it for a day. I'm a little bit freaked out, frankly.

I was convinced that Tizer Ice tasted better if you drank it through the side of your mouth. Truth is, every drink tastes better when drank through the side of your mouth. Drink things from the side of your mouth. Your mouth.

As if I could have had a chance encounter with a Beexer and missed it! Shame that... if I'd have known you were there I would have said hello Kovacs.

The restaurant was alright. I had a burger but it was a bit dry and bloomin expensive. It didn't come with chips either.. oh, and it didn't come on a plate. It came on a bit of wood.

Apart from that (and the pudding not coming in a bowl but on a bit of wood) it was alright.

I thought the common knowledge that different parts of your tongue deal with different flavours was bollocks?

Ed: does anyone know of any good unlimited broadband deals? We're getting rid of the Sky package we've had for a while, and just want something cheapish to replace the internet part of it. We've got a BT landline, and already have a wireless router, if that helps.

Nah. Unless you're teabagging, there're no bollocks on any part of your tongue.

I can't ski, I can't speak any foreign language and Mrs P hates the cold.

But I have to go watch a downhill race and some ski jumping at least once in my life.

Also, drink things using a teaspoon. Always tastes amazing. Ditto using a straw with which you capture some drinks with a finger overthr end and then deposit into your mouth. Always tastes better.

So, here's what you missed on MaliA:

Landlord wanted one month's notice for us to move out. I wrote him a letter this week saying "here's one months notice, we owe you £143.75 for a weeks rent, which you'll get on the usual day". MrsA is worried that the Landlord hasn't got the letter and wants to call him, but there's no real need for that. The 'application' for the new place is waiting upon a reference from him that she is also concerned about, but as we're not meth addicts and have always paid the rent on time this is no cause for concern. The final cause for concern for MrsA is that if the Landlord wants the full months rent to take us up to the end of the tenancy (£575, rather than the £143.75 we've offered for the week of that month) then there might be problems. Only there won't be as the roof is still leaking so we'll call that breach of contract and won't give him anything.

All caught up?

He wants to know how I calculated the outstanding amount. I'm half tempted to reply with the word "Maths".

Cheers, folks! Looking up BE now.

Just returned a too-big coat to its supplier. Cost me £12. They don't refund that bit, obv. :(

Yeah, if it's faulty that's one thing (or they sent you the wrong size), but if you bought the wrong item, they don't have to cover it.
