Did bugger all painting over the weekend, however, yesterday, I found a box of old stuff, including Rogue Trader era stuff, that I'm currently stripping in a tub of Dettol.

RT era Space Marine Landspeeder, RT era Space Marine Librarian in TDA, Inquistor in TDA, The old captain in TDA, all metal stuff.

I've often thought of doing a web-game called "Zero Quest", but I'm not sure what would happen.

Maybe just an exciting looking page with a "start now" button, then one that says "You win!" when you click it.

I liked Hero Quest a lot. I might try and grab it for Cottaging 2012.

Just have a load of dice-rolling where you have roll a zero to win.

Well there's one with a Buy It Now for £65 if you don't want to bid. And yes, the minis are collectable, so people have plundered them pretty thoroughly over the years.

Hence why when Space Hulk was re-launched it was £60- rising into the hundreds on eBay days later.

I have a Space Hulk somewhere. I'm fairly sure I've got a Hero Quest too - I'll go into my parent's loft and look for it at some point.

I decided to stick with the stretched sprue for the wires as I'd already done most of it, won't use it again, though, such a faff and so fragile. Probably went a bit overboard on the weathering and rust but meh.

Another great model, the wires look brilliant and well worth the extra effort I'd say.

I think the rust looks fine personally. Did you use ink for that?

Get a roll of paper or a bigger sheet for your background, I have loads if you want any.

I think I through my Hero Quest away when I moved out, as I did not have a lot of storage. :(

Thanks man, the rust I did with some pastels, just shaved off loads of orange and a bit of black and brown then mixed a drop of the Klear floor polish stuff in there (using this instead of water means it doesn't come off or smudge around when you pick it up). I also picked up a Tamiya weathering kit which which is great for exhaust stains.

Klear mixed into the pastels is a great idea - I wonder if that could work for exhaust stains too? I'll dig out my rubbish Hurri and test it out. How did you manage the "worn metal" look on the P-40's wings? It looks drybushed to my fairly uneducated eye.

I've just bought myself a cheapo kit of a Westland Whirlwind to try to get my eye back in. I've a feeling it'll look poo - the kit isn't very good, and neither am I, but I'll stick results here when they come.

I'm not sure if it would work for exhaust stains as the edges would look too sharp. The chipped paint on the P40 I just did with a very tiny brush I had cut down and masked along the panel lines then painted them on. It actually doesn't look so good up close, they look a bit painted on.

They don't have any in Hobbycraft but if from what I've seen of my Mosquito the Tamiya 1/72 models are really, really nice. Shame the range is a bit limited, though.

Forgeworld's pigments are excellent for exhaust stains and rust effects. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Modelling-Supplies I think Vallejo and MiG do pigments too, but I can't vouch for them.

Yeah I've been thinking of getting a Tamiya Sherman once I've finished the planes I have.

Also been looking at getting the Zvezda Kamov Ka-27 kit, odd looking twin rotor anti sub helicopter but I just think it's great.

I need to stop looking at model sites :)

Apparently MIG weathering powders and forgeworld powders are identical.

As in Forgeworld's are rebranded MIG.

I don't get how everything has to be covered in mud and rusty nowadays. Sure, Imperial Guard, Orks and Chaos forces shouldn't be pristine, but you know, Eldar and Space Marines are supposed to look bright.

Just another fad I guess.

About 6 weeks. A month of that was waiting for the water effects river to harden over his feet.

A Thousand Sons one no less! I'm currently working on a Black Legion one, and have another Emperor's Children and an Iron Warriors dreads in various stages of sticky-together-ness. Oh and two Death Guard ones that are super-detailed so are taking forever. Give in to the nerd, J. :P

You'd be appalled at how little I've got completely painted. My problem is that I'm never happy with what I've done and constantly strip them all down and start again. I think those two dreadnoughts, Dread Derek and my Khorne Daemon Prince are the only ones I'm satisfied with.

Did some more painting on my Nurgle Preacher last night, man there's some tiny little details on him. In my paint pox I also discovered I'd started a Space Marine Captain, so I carried on with that too. Looking good so far.

I spent two hours painting a couple of Sidewinders and getting various bay doors and bits of undercarriage done for my long-delayed Hornet (which idiot decided that white was a nice colour for landing gear? What an inconvenient BASTARD). Just need to paint the wheels (which is a REALLY ANNOYING JOB, by the by), assemble the gear, attach the tiny fins that are currently still on the sprue to defend against my hamhandedness, then slap on a coat or two of matt varnish and JOB DONE.

I appear to be bidding on three model kits on eBay.

Let myself get outbid on one I wasn't too bothered about and just won a Hasegawa 1/72 North American-Rockwell F-86F Sabre for £3.70 delivered. Still in the running for a Kamov KA - 29 "HELIX".

They look awesome.

I have my eye on this for when I've finished my other GW stuff. Got a thing for the Undead.

I really want to find a nice Polikarpov I-16 to make, however the only ones I've seen are Hasegawa on ebay and for some unfathomable reason they mostly come in pairs, for twenty quid :S
