Inspired by the "Does Anyone Else?" subreddit on reddit, what things do you do that you worry might be unique and hope other people do too?

For example, does anyone else not bother buttening up their jeans fly when they're around the house? I find that if I go to the toilet, I just don't bother re-buttoning up if I'm not venturing out for the rest of the day... :hat:

A classic example from reddit is: "Does anyone else run up their stairs on all fours like a dog?"

I did when I was a kid.

Yeah me too.

And I liked to sit down and slide (well bump) down the stairs, or on my front like superman.

...fuck it, I'm going to start again.

Why are you bothering to wear clothes if you're staying home? Just wear some trackpants or something comfortable if you insist.

I can get on board with the trackpants thing - more accurately I'll usually wear football shorts. But that's more of an evening thing. I like to be ready to head out if needs be, buttoning my fly before I go!

The whole process is autopilot for me. I could no more leave my fly unzipped (buttons? Freak.) than I could tie a shoelace wrong, or something.

When I'm rolling over to go to sleep, I can only do it to my right. Going the other way might cause some as yet untested disaster or something.

(buttons? Freak.)

Let's see who the freak is when you have a zipping accident!

And I always, always, ALWAYS roll left to go to sleep.

I always roll to the right when I go to bed, but can't fall asleep until I've turned over to the left.

And I have to have my right arm under the pillow, usually stretching to under the Mrs's pillow too.

Zips > Buttons

I've almost pissed myself on a few occasions struggling with a new pair of buttoned jeans at the urinal when in a state of extreme refreshment.

Left arm goes under the pillow, under my head. Right arm goes under my chest, left leg is bent at around 50 degrees and rests on my right calf. This is correct sleeping. Oh, and I usually have a cat sitting on my arse.

Hah, here's one. I'm very particular about how my shoes are laced up. The left and right shoe HAS to be done in mirror symmetry and the length of each lace on both shoes MUST be equal. One of the only OCD things I have.

I don't. As a result I frequently come back from a weekend away and find that I've left the back door unlocked the whole time.

I wash my hands a lot. That's not unusual, but I do it as soon as I get to work, as soon as I get home, and just a couple of times during the day to ensure they're... clean.

There's different ways I lace shoes, trainers and walking boots. Some go across, some are criss crossed.

BUT THEY MUST BE SYMMETRICAL AND LACES MUST BE OF EQUAL LENGTH.

If I see shoes left by the door or on the stairs that are not placed left on the left, right on the right I have to set them straight. Curse you child!

I do as well, but that's probably a legacy of working in my uncle's butchers shop from the age of 11-18 where keeping your hands clean is vital.

I do a fair amount as well, proabbly due to having worked in a lab for so long. Leave work, wash hands.

You totally have a foot-fetish too, don't you...

I hate stairs, I always think I'm going to fall down them and I can't attempt the first couple of steps without having something to hold on to.

It's a faster, less risky way of getting up stairs. Why anyone wouldn't do it is beyond me.

Me too, walking is too slow and it's something I've always done since being a kid with tons of energy.

I started to think of things to write in here but it made my brain shudder when I started to think of the proper mental OCD shit I used to do as a teenager. Glad I grew out of that. Now I just do the ritual day to day shit like rolling over onto a specific side when first getting into bed, then rolling over to the other side before falling asleep; only sleeping on the right side of the bed; the exact same morning ritual (shower, cereal, shit, brush teeth, drink water) before I go to work otherwise I feel weird all day etc...

Running up/down stairs - tick.

Also, if there are "bits" in the area around me (floor or desk), fluff, clippings, hair, crumbs, then I pick them up and put them in a very neat little pile.

And then walk away from the pile. The house usually has two or three small piles of fluff on a side, somewhere. Drives Mrs P mad.

Yes, but do you turn around and go back from the street or car to check? We have an unwritten agreement that we will watch the other person lock the front door and then tug the handle to prove it's locked. I also get up in the middle of the night to check.

I also worry that I've left the oven on or fridge open, to the point of actually getting up and going downstairs in the middle of the night to check. I tug on the door handles again while I'm down there.

I always start brushing my teeth on the top lefthand side, always.

I open my various programs in work in a specific order so I know where they all are. As I still use XP, if I get it wrong I have to close them all until I can then re-open them this time in the correct order. I also have to arrange the windows just right across my four screens. When the programs 'stack' (we have one program in particular that does this) I'm so used to them being stacked in numerical order that, again, I have to close and re-open them to get them stacked properly otherwise my muscle memory will try and click the middle of the stack to open window 2 and I get window 3 instead.

I get easily distracted by housework. I won't even take my coat or shoes off after work until I've tidied the kitchen and living room and got the dinner on. Sometimes I don't bother, I look at it and lose the will to live. At weekends, I don't have a shower until I've tidied and cleaned. Occasionally, I don't even get dressed at all before starting it. Then I'll remember windows are made of glass and put a tshirt or a cardi on.

As for my 'quirks'... I hate walking or driving the same way twice on a familiar route until I've found the optimum route. Once the optimum route is found, I'll get annoyed if I am unable to travel that route.

Lots of people sleep with their arm under the pillow. I've started doing this lately, but it means I wake up with a dead arm, which is annoying.
