I cant find any other threads about this but i know there are a few people who are going to spring for this day 1 - there were a few announcements about the Kinect integration at Comiccon over the weekend - the main ones covered here at VG24/7 (and at least they do sound like small add ons rather than replacing standard controls with motion)

http://www.vg247.com/2011/10/17/halo-ce ... -detailed/

Quote:
Halo: CE Anniversary’s Kinect features detailed

343 Industries has announced the list of Kinect features that will support Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition.

As detailed at New York ComicCon over the weekend by 343 (as reported by IGN), there’ll be three ways to use Kinect within the game.

First, you can use your voice to switch between the classic visual mode of ten years ago and the HD graphics, as well as reload and throw grenades.

Second, Analyse Mode will enable you to scan weapons, vehicles, characters and aliens by putting the reticule on the subject before saying scan.

The items you scan in-game will then make their way to Library, the third and final Kinect feature. It’s there that you’ll be able to look at the items you’ve taken in using the motion controller.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition launches on November 15 for Xbox 360.

The Kinect stuff just seems to be in there because they have to. Other than that, I've got this ordered for day one.

After how much i enjoyed Reach, I'm a sucker for Halo games.

After Halo Reach I don't want any more.

I enjoyed it but it's too sterile. Give me Gears grit anyday.

Right, who has this, and if I buy it second hand will I still be able to do everything, i.e. online and using the maps in Reach, or is there a code?

You get a code for the maps to integrate it with Reach if you have that disc in, but I believe you can play them on the multiplayer disc you get with Anniversary as well.

Check this as I'm just remembering from reading articles a few months ago. :)

Awwesome, well it's only £22 from Amazon so I've put an order in and will trade BF3 for cash when I get the chance, leaving change for the pub.

But BF3 is the best game ever! You get to go into battle, and if you succeed in making ten kills, you get issued with bullets for your weapons! Make 20 kills and you unlock 'a weapon'! Now you just need to find someone on the enormous maps to kill, except half of them are either flying around in the skies above failing to hit each other with missiles, or sitting at the runway hopping up and down waiting for the planes to spawn.

Let's play Forza instead.

I am seething somewhat at this presently. I want to play through all 3 Chief Halos in order to remember the story properly for Halo 4. I am on the Truth and Reconciliation, Keyes is rescued, I lead us back to the control room, headshot the two cloaked sword zealots, wait around while the dialogue happens and then fight off the invaders, lead the crew back to the hangar and start on the covenant in there, with my lot in the corridor behind me. A bullet slips past, Keyes dies, back to the start of this whole section.

Run the checkpoint from the end of the cutscenes, ffs. Especially when the zealots sometimes doe and sometimes do not, sometimes kill my soldiers, increasing the chances of Keyes dying and sometimes not. Three restarts I've had him pop his clogs before I can kill two grunts, once he even ran into the control room and got scythed down by a zealot before I could shoot the other.

I always forget this aspect of Halo games. Eternal restart choke point randomness hell, should call it.

Giving up until tomorrow as it's getting harder each time I play.

Hnnng. I'm back on the Truth and Reconciliation. I forgot how much this game degenerates into alternating between shorty and rifle to clear the two types of Flood for a couple of levels. Still, the T&R is surely the worst aspect of the whole series. Nightmare in the first sweep as detailed above (when I managed to get through it I came to realise that I was literally finished and all enemies dead but that one needle that struck Keyes set me back a cutscene and several restarts. Crap design.) now I'm back on it and it is infested with flood. Which spawn from nowhere, I'm sure of it. Those carrier things make such a mess of the screen I can't see what I'm fighting and the repetition is nigh-on unbearable.

Remind me how much flood is in 2 and 3 again....

T&R is where I stalled on my first ever playthrough, and where I made the momentous decision to dial it back to Heroic.

There are still some fun bits ahead but the Flood really spoil it.

I think there's more Flood in 2 than 3, with some of the final levels being a chaotic clusterfuck of random death as Covenant and Flood clash all around you.

Halo, more than most games appeals to my inner Dimrill... the baldy, beardy part of me that really enjoys the challenge of a tough bit of a game. That's on heroic. Bt then there's imperfections that can piss a precious hour of free time away for no good reason, even on normal. Legendary is for people with lots of free time who need all the achievements. I simply can't see how any fun is derived from it, because it drains every last vestige of running about shorty snooty adrenalin fun from it and turns it into a hide and seek tactical overkill. It's as wrong to me as playing on easy.

If 343 can keep the progress more or less smooth, say to within twenty minutes of restarts tops per checkpoint, they'll have my heart. Still, these things can often come down to luck and ingenuity beyond my means. The last choke point I got horrendously stuck on I solved by just running and not stopping. Defeats the point a bit, I'd spent an hour trying to figure out the complex ballet of death required to clear that room section of the level.... It never occurd to me that not really paying the game was how to play the game. And that's a tad cheap.

Incidentally, after playing through anniversary and all the visual improvements it contains, I loaded Reach this evening to pick up a couple of stray Cheevos.

Mother of Christ, it's a beautiful game. I want to live on Reach. Dying, obviously, before the Covenant arrive. After anniversary it feel like running around in a photograph. I can't fucking wait for Halo 4 now.

Very much :this: except I did manage to finish Reach on Legendary - it was certainly a lot less rage inducing than the earlier games were on Legendary although it did have its moments.
