Rooney pissed me off; as far as I'm concerned getting Kompany sent off, only to be awarded man of the match? (That title surely belonged to Aguero, who was magnificent).

Can't stand seeing players trying (and succeeding) getting fellow players sent off. IMO 10-man City were very unlucky not to pull off a comeback or comebacks second half; I hope Liverpool smash United in the next round.

So, the nice girl from the recruitment place called just now. She said that the woman whom she sent my CV and test results to was "really positive" and "wants me on board". There doesn't, however, appear to be a proper vacancy there, yet though, but I'll know more on Friday. She's also sent my stuff off to a couple more people. Which is progress of sorts.

Part of the problem with both the housing market in the UK, and the employment market is pensioners. They have most of the capital and tend to live alone in their old family homes. Also, after they retire, they then get jobs, working in supermarkets and so on and s forth. Both these things add to the ever increasing amounts of youth unemployed or unable to purchase a house for their families. The only clear solution to this is to remove the heating allowance, and the problems will have eased by April.

Yup, Ebay. And yes, I was rather surprised too - good job it wasn't a box of Pal Dreamcast games really.

When I worked at GAME Dreamcast boxes were the worst. Customers would be forever dropping them on the hard floor and they sounded just like a glass smashing.

Big day for me:-

1) One year ago today, I had a chest x-ray, which was the first piece of evidence for my PE diagnosis
2) turned down a good-looking job interview that would have happened on Thursday because...
3) on Monday I have a third interview for a much better looking job (first job couldn't be stalled long enough for me to complete the process at second job)
4) came back to work to find out I won Employee of the Month for December, so I have a bottle of champagne and £100 of vouchers
5) also found out my boss, and the only other senior dev on my team, has quit. I've been invited to apply for his job. If I quit too, they are superfucked.
6) ordered a 27" iMac.

How is that nowadays?

I have a genetic condition -- heterozygous Factor V Leiden deficiency. I am 4x-8x more likely to get a clot than a normal person (although about 15% of Europeans have the same condition, apparently). The risks of being on Warfarin are worse than the risks of clot, so I don't take medication. I have to get injections and wear DVT stockings if I'm going to sit immobile for more than four hours (flying, driving, etc) and it complicates any surgery I may have in the future. In the US, where I have no health insurance, I have to have the injections every day, which sucks because they hurt.

I'm getting a 3.4 GHz quad-core i7, with a Radeon 6970M, 27" 2560x1440 screen, 1 TB HDD, 4 GB RAM. I already have a 240 GB SSD to fit alongside the hard drive and I'll order an extra 8 GB RAM to upgrade that too.
