I've just had lunch in Oxford, and managed to use the credit card machine to leave a five pence tip.

The huge supermarket in Bradford is an incredibly depressing place to be in. Good delicatessen, though.

Where did you go for lunch?

The Trout Inn in Wolvercote.

They made the best custard I've ever tasted.

It's always been just the right distance from the centre of town for an pint after a pleasant afternoon's stroll across Port Meadow. The other pubs in Wolvercote are pretty good too.

I used to go to the Red Lion in Wolvercote, it was great for having a proper ranty landlord, and for darts after 10 pints.

Didn't get that in the Trout.

We went to the Isis Tavern a couple of weeks before Christmas, that was lovely. Which reminds me, I really need to book a hotel for next weekend.

Hmm... job available that's much closer to home, better hours, pension and holidays but less money.

Think I'll apply anyway, can't hurt to find out more.

If you save on commuting costs, it might be that you actually are better off at the end of the day. Worth doing all the maths on, certainly. If you save a grand on travel, then a 1,500 pay cut would leave you about even, depending on tax and NI and stuff.

Also, they may up their offer for the right person/you might be able to negotiate more out of your current employer if you have another job offer on the table.

It could very well work out to be the same take home pay.

One big plus is that this role could lead to something better in the Design / Web team. Because it's at a college they also offer free courses / training AND they want someone into photography...

I think I'm going to go for it.

They use Georgia, Times New Roman and some Goudy typeface. If they're trying to make the whole world Comic Sans you think they'd start with their own website :p

Jesus Christ. I've had some pineappe chunks today; not from a tin, a proper "sweet" pineapple chopped up.

I knew some of it was a bit tart but it's burnt holes in my fucking lips. Bleeding and everything.

I finally had the idea to get my parent's TV provider account information so I can mooch HBO GO off them. I downloaded the channel for Roku and have The Wire, The Sopranos, and Deadwood all queued up. Now all I have to do is lay down on the couch and wait for my limbs to atrophy.

MrsA is finding more and more places to move to. Given she wants to move sooner, rather than later, I've to work out how much of a fight I'm going to have on my hands over a month's rent, and whether the Landlord is going to hold us to it (I suspect he will), or just write off the money into 'cost of moving' and absorb it into the price of this merry adventure.. Landlord came over yesterday and grumbled about the cost of treating the house for fleas, and gave me a cheque for £25.
