Anyone else play this? I've started again after six months or so off and the updates make it so much better. The boss battles in particular have been made fairer and less of a tooth-grinding slog of attrition to kill them. The brick dungeon guarded by Skeletron is easier and has keys to collect to get the loot now. Much better. I've yet to re-mine down to the hell levels to see if they're a less hostile place to be.

Loads of nice new crafting recipes too.

Here's my current castle.

Bloody Dryad decided not to live in the nice grassy room I made for her. Cow. Still need to add a ktichen and bathroom. I'm also considering a throne room too.

I tried to get into this earlier in the year, but after googling and watching youtube videos just to build a basic little house, I left it at that. I notice it's £1.49 again today on Steam, for those looking at getting into it.

There is the potential to play this on a big daft server like Minecraft, btw. If anyone has a big daft server spare, that is.

I can't help but see it as a big step backwards from Minecraft. Yes, there's a lot more detail to the items and the NPCs, but it's sidescrolling!

It's not the graphics, I just don't see nearly as much potential for building wonderful things in a 2D world compared to a 3D one.

It's a different game. Try playing it like Minecraft and it'll punish you harshly. Shares more in common with Miner Dig Deep.

It strikes me heavily as being Minecraft for people who threw their lives away to Maple Story (yes, then, with a hint of hup! HUP! hup! Hup! Miner Dig Deep) and I stand by my further reasoning.

On the one hand I loved stuff like Metroid and Todd's Adventures In Slime World, but having a customizable house that NPCs could live in too only goes so far towards extending my enjoyment thereof, even if Minecraft didn't exist.

Have you played it or are you basing this on screenshots?

You can move her, if you press ESC, click the house icon above your equipment, click her face and click the grassy room it'll reassign her to live there (or say OMG THAT ISN'T A VALID HOUSE IDIOT).

I had a few goes when it first came out but considering it took half an hour of trawling the wiki just to build a house I got fed up. Went back to it some point last month. I find the singleplayer to be much better than Minecraft's, but the urge to build massive things (or the attraction of communal building in multiplayer) to be less.

Slackened off playing it recently because I've killed the wall of flesh in hell and hardmode keeps killing me because I'm still in the mindframe of nothing really being able to do me serious damage, which isn't true any more.

Did you give it 8/10? Did you tell us we should all support DLC or else we're entitled white cunts?

Must shorten the life of the console leaving it on for hours while you're asleep and at work. Odd.

The forthcoming PC update (version 1.2) sounds good from all that I've read (due out towards the end of May).

I also see that Starbound is available to pre-order:

http://www.playstarbound.com/store/

(Starbound is a separate project - kind of a sci-fi themed Terraria. The original Terraria artist is the guy behind Starbound).
