My second xbox on the main telly is an Arcade slim, and even though I have a 16gb usb stick in it, that doesn't count as a hard disk to the little demon that lives inside.
So if I want to install HD texture in BF3 I need a hard disk.

I was going to order one online, but ideally I want it for over the xmas period, while i'm at home and Mrs T is at work and ordering now is not the best option for that.
However, I popped to the shops and could only find a 250gb one for £80, which seems a trifle excessive, being as I can get a 320gb for £65 online. Online seems the only way then, but is the 320gb for £65 a good deal? It seems ok to me for an official hard disk. Ebay is abound with non-oem disks for around £50-£60, which at that price I might as well buy an official one instead.

Or, I could buy a random disk from somewhere and a hard disk case, but I know nothing about that as of yet, has anyone else done that and can advise?

£65 seems like a good (spit) price. It's the best you're gonna get really - and I'd definitely go for an official one.

I've got one of the small first-gen ones - 20GB, I think.

Er - £20, delivered?

Nah cheers anyway. If i'm going to get one, i'd rather pay the extra £40 and get a super huge one that just plugs straight in with no bother :D I assume your 20gb is still the old style side attach type.

There's plenty of videos on youtube showing how to put a regular SATA hard disk into the slim. Just need a couple of wedges to stop it rattling around.

I would rather go down the official route personally. But that's just me, you might enjoy tinkering about with stuff?

I'd just be scared of being blocked from Xbox live or something.

Does the Xbox recognise any hard drive space over and above the largest HDD MS have officially released?

Having had a look, the problem is that the regular sata hard drives are £60 for 250gb at the moment anyway, due to the floods...

Wait, so that's not what 'motion controlled' means?

PRice has dropped from £65 to £60 in the past couple of days on Amazon, for the 320gb drive.

Indecision has saved me a fiver, woo!
