I was always under the impression that once a meter is fitted you couldn't go back to rates.

I've owned a car with a start button for 3 months now, and I still invariably get into it and scratch around looking for somewhere to enter the key when I get it.

My old Cerbera was great for that, not only did it have no door handles, so people who didn't know it couldn't even get it. But once you got it you had to press a button on the key fob to turn off the immobiliser and then press the unlabelled button in the car to start it, which appeared to have been thrown into the cockpit by a drunk northerner and wired up where ever it landed...

No, at a local firm where we used to make some of the electronic bits, dashboard parts, LED clusters for some of the lights, that sort of thing. They all worked fine when I tested them before we sent them out, honestly. :DD

I hope it's not too busy at the Trafford Centre tomorrow.

Either way I'll be filling my gut with Nando's and Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

I'm sure it'll be fine. It's normally pretty quiet there in December, in the run up to Christmas.

Get there at 10am. The chavs are still in bed until around mid-day, so it's quiet-ish until after that.

Erm, what? If it's leaking vapour or condensate that's *bad*.

The boiler is in a cupboard at one end of the bathroom. The thing that vents out into the outside world runs from this cupboard, along the wall over the bath, through the wall, to outside. It is covered by a wooden box, which hasn't been sealed properly, and I suspect the wrong type of wood was used. it's also poorly constructed. I suspect that what is happening is water vapour from the bathroom is condensing on the outside of this pipe, and then dripping down the inside of the box until it meets the walls and runs down.

In the exciting conclusion, the flue exit is now three inches higher than it was.

Heh. There was a job advertised which I applied for. I've only just received the out of office reply, stating that the woman will be away until the day after the closing date. Time for some phoning around!

Surprisingly, the One Show is not part of my evening viewing, as a rule. However, hidden within a link from the Guardian story above, is this paragraph

Quote:
He prefaced the remarks, however, by asserting that he liked the strikers as the industrial action meant there was no traffic on the roads. Adding that he had to be balanced as he worked for the BBC, he then launched into an anti-strikers rant, which appeared to be at least partly in jest.

So, while you may think that Clarkson is a nob, as do I, it would appear that there have been some significant omissions in the contextualising of this. For a fucking change.

There's a fantastic parody of Clarkson played by Alexander Armstrong in Saxondale. If you "get" that, you're quite likely to be chuckling at this whole thing. I hate them all.

Are people not allowed opinions any more? Or just not on the BBC?

I don't think he was joking in so far as he doesn't support the strikers. But so what?

From that Grauniad link - "Unison said it was considering whether the comments should be referred to the police.

Dave Prentis, general secretary of Unison, said: "Clarkson's comments on the One Show were totally outrageous, and they cannot be tolerated. We are seeking urgent legal advice about what further action we can take against him and the BBC, and whether or not his comments should be referred to the police."

Seriously, fuck off you utter cunt weasels. "Cannot be tolerated"? What is this, the USSR? Fucking moron. You have single handedly made me reconsider supporting your members.

Anyway, I bet your pension's fine, isn't it Mr Prentis? Paid for by your members? Twat.

Sure but it shouldn't merrit a statement from the PM, doesnt he have a country to run?

Especially when a soap-opera i.e. fiction, generates more complaints.

what about the complainers? surely there's some stuff that matters to complain about?

He was exaggerating for comic effect. And he's perfectly entitled to disagree with the unions. And the unions are perfectly entitled to consider him a wanker in return.

However, for a head of a union to then say the police should get involved because someone expressed an opinion on telly is beyond the fucking pale.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
My dad turned down quite a few high paying jobs to stay in a civil service job he was hilariously overqualified for, one of the reasons was the pension, take away that reason and you are going to lose a hell of a lot of very good people in the "upper management" of the civil service

I've received a job offer paying £25 per hour working from home as a 'Financial Forwarding Coordinator'. It only requires me to work 2-3 hours a day, 5 days a week. After 30 days, it'll increase to £30 per hour. Oh, and commission on top.

As kind as it is to make me such an offer: to do so on the basis of a CV you saw, and contacting me through from an @gmail.com address, passed through a remailer, when you're a "small and reputable, highly professional IT Outsourcing enterprise established in the UK" makes me think "Deffo! That sounds legit!". That and the lack of a linked in profile for anyone of that name working in that area in the UK.

Today is a charity day in the office for Children in Need (bit late, but never mind). People are invited to come to work in their pyjamas for the day. Well, I say people - it seems that it's the women that are doing this and judging by their various facebook statuses, it appears to be the highlight of their week. And I thought I needed to get out more.

I was in a pub where all the staff were in their 'nightwear'. I can't begin to tell you how pissed off one of the barmaids was with this. Especially as the staff was 6 female students and one 38 year old bloke (the manager).
