You will need:

40 Smithing
2 Smithing perks
30 Enchanting
1 Enchanting perk
Sneak 50
Assassin's Blade perk
2 Refined Moonstone
1 Quicksilver Ingot
1 Iron Ingot
3 Leather Strips
1 soul gem (filled)
Miscellaneous magic weapon inflicting flame damage (to taste)

Combine the leather, quicksilver, iron and one of your moonstones on a pre-heated blacksmith's forge. Stir gently and hit with a fucking big hammer until the mixture thickens to form an Elven Dagger - this will do a base of 9 damage + 2 points for each of the "base" one-handed perks you've taken (For me, that's a single perk and 11 damage. And "of course, they're all base one-handed perks by the time I'm finished with them"). Take your Elven Smithing perk and fold the other moonstone into the dagger using a grindstone to give yourself an Exquisite Elven Dagger. In my case, this does 18 damage.

Transfer the weapon to a well-dusted enchanter's table. Take your choice of flame weapon and vigorously disenchant to separate the Flame Damage enchantment from the big hole in your inventory where a magic sword used to be. Finally, coat the dagger with a generous portion of 12 damage's worth of flame enchantment and top with a filled soul gem. Serve with the Sneak Perk "Assassin's Blade" which allows you to sneak attack with daggers for 15x damage and will briefly delight your extremely surprised dinner guests. Bon appetit!

Gngh. I resolutely decided that I shouldn't be sneaky, thinking I may save that for another playthrough. Now I'm regretting it. Maybe I'll grind sneak for a bit, but I'm rubbish at it. I suspect I'll have to

1) ditch Trusty Packhorse Lydia
2) remove all my armour

...and I'm dubious about these too. I like my partial Elven armour with its various buff enchantments.

Ooh, this is sneaky:

Quote:
1. Once you have max perks and 100 in each skill...
2. Enchant fortify alchemy helm, ring, gloves + necklace. The buff should be +25 on each for + 100 total.
3. Put on the gear and make 4 fortify enchant potions (+ 27ish?)
4. Use those potions to make better fortify alchemy gear. Note... You have to be quick because you only have 30 seconds per potion.
5. Use that gear to make better fortify enchanting potions...
6. Keep repeating 4 - 5 until you can make fortify alchemy + 29 on each piece (116 total)
7. Use 4 +32 enchanting pots to create fortify smithing rings, neck, gloves and chest.
8. Make some fortify smithing potions (+130% with your alchemy gear)
9. Craft daedric armor, shield and weapon.
10. Put on your smithing gear, drink the potion (130 + 116 = +246% to smithing), then improve your weapons.
11. Make about 10 enchanting potions (+32)
12. Enchant a ring gloves and neck with fortify heavy armor and fortify one handed. I believe the number was 29 for armor 47% for weapon? Not in front of computer.
13. Enchant health / heavy armor to chest.
14. Enchant one handed / stamina to boots.
15. Enchant helm with whatever you want... (archery... Magic?)

Also anyone who experiences physical pain in leaving behind loot in dungeons because you can't carry any more: dump everything into an skellington ribcage and carry it in front of you. Old Oblivion trick still works in this.

Indeed. That said, I'll still be using Dimmers's skellington trick when I get this on 4th December. As I'm not a Champion of Cyrodiil.

What's this nirnroot stuff about? I never got past the first gate in Oblivion, as my PC was too shit for it and I gave up.

Nirnroot was a rare ingredient for alchemy in Oblivion. In this it's everywhere, glows and goes "WOM! WOM! WOM!" when you're near it.

I have 32 troll skulls littering the place now. I used to have cheese stacked up in columns around the living room too, but I used to come home and find my housecarl/wife had walked into them and they were scattered everywhere.

No money is no problem, as this'll be the last game you buy for many months[1]. No time, however, is a far bigger problem, as it'll eat your life.

[1] So glad I didn't bother with Uncharted 3 now. I wish I'd given Batman a miss too.

Bizarrely I think this is one of the most profound changes Dark Souls makes. The equip load stat really, really works well. Especially due to poise.

Basically if you are wear/wielding less then 25% of your equipment limit you are lightning fast and above 50% you can't even roll. BUT heavy armour means you are protected as shit, and generally gives you poise. Which means you can't be staggered out of your slow heavy attacks.

Bethesda just need to thieve guild the fuck out of dark souls.

By the way, Xbox players trying to collect all 24 Stones of Barenziah would do well to collect the one in the Thalmor Embassy while doing the main-plot quest there. Otherwise you'll larks trying to glitch your way back in there like I had to. PC players can just cheat, of course.

If you've not already got there, Blackreach is literally awesome. In the proper context of the word. Another 1/4 of the size of the main Skyrim map right there.

The whole damn thing.

He took snaps along the way, recording landmarks such as the volcano Vvardenfell and the Imperial City in Cyrodiil (centre of the fourth Elder Scrolls game), and while they're of reduced scale and greatly reduced texture quality (they're basically just lightly-textured blobs of landscape), he says they're there in the game, every time you load it up.
