I didn't really pay Giant Bomb much attention when it first came about. Mainly because it's a) Yank, and b) I don't like the design of the site. Plus it's confusing because it's all community-driven and wiki-based and stuff.

However, having gotten into the podcast, and subsequently the website itself a bit more - specifically their "Quick Look" videos - I've came to realise that they're pretty much at the top of their game. I believe Giant Bomb to be the best video game website out there by quite some distance. In fact, as of yesterday I'm a subscriber (it's £3 or so a month :attitude:) and you get lovely HD video, exclusive content and a great HTML5 mobile site that lets you watch their video content in bed with very little fuss. (This is possible without subscribing, but you have to use the non-mobile site and it's a pain in the arse on an iPhone.)

Anyway, does anyone else read/watch Giant Bomb? I'd definitely recommend their weekly podcast for a start. It's lengthy, but if you have a hefty commute, it'll see your full day of travel out and then some. The guys who run the site know what they're talking about and aren't completely hateful. It's a good site. I think it could be better, but I'm still happy to support it because it's head and shoulders above the rest of the shite. Crucially, I trust their opinions. They seem to get their reviews spot-on. And further, the Quick Look videos - where they play an hour or so of any given game with a bit of commentary - arguably do a better job than any review.

Check it out!

edit: Just a note, it is mainly their video/podcast content that I'm impressed with. I still find the site difficult to navigate at times, and their written reviews, well, I rarely bother reading reviews any more. Maybe I'm getting lazy, but I just can't get enough of video content these days.

I've just had a quick look through and I think I like it. Their reviews seem to tie up with what I think about games (although, I would have given Kane and Lynch 2 minus stars)

Consider it bookmarked!

Funnily enough (and the reason I was attracted to GB in the first place), the guy who founded the site was sacked from
Gamespot for giving the original Kane and Lynch a poor review. Eidos put pressure on Gamespot with ad spend and they sacked him. Basically, it seems like a pretty trustworthy site.

That's piqued my interest.

It was rubbish, but entertained me enough in co-op for a fiver.

I remember you turning down other coop games so that you could bum it. In the bum.

Yes, because when you've already agreed to play something with someone, it's a bit bad form to then change your mind and go off and play something else with other people.

We still have K&L2 to do on extreme difficulty *nudge*

When I have a shelf of GOOD games to play, I'm not playing that wankfest in my small amount of spare time.

Yeah, who'd want to play a fast-paced, challenging shooter in co-op when you can drive cars in circles on your own round and round and round and round...

I'm with Myp on this one... I can think of a million games I'd rather play than Kane and Lynch 2.

Fixed.

In any case, I already do the former - it's called Battlefield.
