Odd issue on my main computer. Was listening to the radio live, no issue, however couldnt connect to any internet page getting a server not found page although radio still streaming - had been working fine 5 mins ago. Restarted, still not working and when i run the troubleshooting i get windows cannot communicate with the device or resource (primaryDNS server)

Wifi is working fine, soooooo any idea what i have broken this time?

restart router, check your internet explorer settings in options. (that the proxy box is unchecked first).

Can you still access sites by ip address?

Try http://209.85.227.99/ (that's google.co.uk)

Your ISP's name server has crapped out. I'd give it 20 minutes and try again.

Is the ipad on the same wifi? Have you got your DNS set to default?

it could be you just need to do an

Code:
ipconfig /release

followed by an

Code:
ipconfig /renew

in a cmd prompt window

or just right click your network icon and hit repair

Malc

Or change the DNS host your router's using to a free one like Google's openDNS - 8.8.8.8 off the top of my head.

192.168.0.1, I'd be guessing.

You'd think so if it was working or the router hadn't been reset. That's what I'm getting at.

changing it to google should bypass your ISPs name service

Just checking - when you switched the DNS server, you changed it in the router config right, not on the PC?

Nope. Google's secondary DNS is 8.8.4.4. 4.4.4.4 is a nameserver but it belongs to Verizon.

Fixed. Thanks for the help.
Was very odd. I changed the DNS under the IP4 setting on the actual PC (i had a smilar problem on an old PC that you chaps kindly helped me with) and that has remedied it. I find it really odd though - this PC is hardly used - only about once a week, and the dodgiest site its been on is probably BEEX!

Ah, that would explain it. I have to dunk my computer in Dettol every time I visit this place.

If the PC doesn't work with the DNS settings in the router, maybe the DHCP in the router isn't working well.

Edit: Or would that be some sort of DNS forwarding in the router that isn't working well? Anyway, I'll shut up now.
