I'll have a look at the trial. Is it honestly still any good? I remember it being fun in the arcades but I'm increasingly of the opinion that a fondness for old arcade games can often only be tainted and not rekindled by revisiting them.

I bought it last night - played the demo a few times round and decided it was close enough to the arcade stuff - there are a few extra modes (some challenge bits , a karaoke mode (yes you can sing as per the title of this thread)) , and an endurance mode where you gain time by overtaking / making good turns and getting round the course along with the basic arcade modes.

I'd say you should try the demo first and if it still seems like fun to you then grab it - I was playing around 11 last night and only had about 4 people on my friends list who were on the leaderboards (WTB / Romanista are the ones I remember) , and I didnt touch the online mode at all.

I bought it and while it's a little sparse, it's great and exactly as I remember.

It looks like it could be easy to get all the achievements too.

Slot Machine 15
On a BEGINNER Course of ARCADE Mode press "Special" in front of the Slots to stop the 3 reels.

YOU JUST LOST YOUR... 15
Find the hidden sign at the dead end in ADVANCED Course of ARCADE MODE. (3)

Flipmode 15
On an EXPERT Course of ARCADE Mode, upend the Jeffry statue by repeatedly pressing "Special".

Repair HORNET 20
Repair damage in the Pit during Arcade Mode.

Rank In 15
Upload your record to the Time Trial Mode leaderboard.

Challenge Clear 20

There is a 'very easy' game option which you could turn things down to so you get the 'come in firsts' achievements , all of the others 'seem' do-able (i got over 5000 in my first try of survival mode , stopped the slot machine on my first drive past it - 'back' is the special button - i just need to practice my 7's and see what the bonus is for hitting the 3 of them on this one)

Well, let's hope you guys can keep up with me on the leaderboards or we can play multiplayer at some point, because I've maxed it in under two hours. Disappointingly easy.

That's why they released 2 other great XBLA titles and a very tempting WP7 game as well this week... they KNEW!

OR, most sane people don't play games just for achievement points.

Well, quite. I'm now going to set ridiculous times on the leaderboards and hope some of you losers can match me. :P

That was the best multiplayer fun I've had in ages! Absolutely hilarious!

For those interested, myp invited me to a game with a bunch of random Yanks who happened to be hilarious. We then did a 30 minute, 80 lap race. 800 points well spent! Also, I'm now even more interested in Forza 4 and the racing club. Hmm.

Even if I never play it again, I've spent £6 on five hours of this. How much time would that get you in the arcade?

Who would've thought turning left 240 times could've been that much fun?

Despite the fact I've (probably) got Battlefield 3 sat on the mat at home, I can't wait to get home to play this again. I think I've gone wrong.

Despite the HD remake the textures are still pretty rubbish. This is all forgotten when you're zooming round 777 Speedway though!

Very much this! It doesn't take away from how good it is though.. Why is it good though? I had loads of fun just going round in one circle. One, relatively small circle.

There really is.

Is Monday evening treading on anybody's toes? We could try to get a few of us together then - say, 9pm?

This Monday evening is apparently some sort of special night here where everyone goes to buy and eat chestnuts in the street. However, your 9pm is my 10pm (at least it is if you're also changing to winter time this weekend in the UK), so if we're back home around then, I'll join.

We can make it any day really. Just don't want to pull other players away from 4za or Bummerman if there's a session of that.

I would love to, but I can't make tomorrow evening at all. I'm out.

Any other night and I would probably be able to but don't organise it around me. Go with the majority.
