With so many people going through I didn't realise this was the last song. I would have picked Birdhouse in Your Soul again as it is still the best song ever.

I knew not picking a classic rock song would backfire!

Pretty one-sided so far! Which is a shame, because it's terrible.

My view of Song Wars (and I'm not expecting anyone to necessarily share it) is that song choices should be more about introducing people to great songs they weren't aware of, as opposed to going for choices everyone already loves, so my vote went to Animal Collective. Luckily of course, it's also the best song of the four. Phew, eh?

I strongly suspect whoever picked The Final Countdown has laid off a huge bet against them winning Song Wars on Betfair or something. I mean, surely. The Final Countdown! Mind you, the song I was going to submit for the final was the theme to 1960s spy caper Stiletto which everyone would surely have hated, so what do I know?

I tend to agree somewhat. I was tempted by Animal Collective which is quite good but I just couldn't ignore how good Bang Bang Bang is. AC would be my second choice.

I agree, so during the group stages I was true to this ethos.

I then pussied out in the knockout stages and picked songs I expected to win, based on the board's general taste in music [EDIT - though I do love both 'Don't Stop Me Now' and 'Teenage Kicks']

For the final I was soooo tempted to go with 'Birdhouse in Your Soul', purely to confuse Mr Russ, but in the end decided to go for something good that might not be as well known.

BUT! Every way of approaching the game is valid.

I wouldn't mind having a mini-league of some description after this at some point, where people can only submit songs that aren't well known.

I liked it best when it existed purely inside my head. As soon as I told anyone about it, it got all commercial.

Maybe if I'd had thirty two pints. But I reckon if I drank thirty two pints, shitting myself would probably be entertainment as well.
In short - you should've picked Queen.

I did wonder if someone had voted with a load of sock puppet accounts, but I'm assured that this isn't the case. Plus I also voted for myself.

ITS THE FINAAAAAAL COUNT DOOOOOOOOOOWN!!!

People are clearly changing their votes though, since both Marc Ronson and Jimi Hendrix have gone from 8 to 6.
Not that I'm suggesting vote-rigging or anything, but I'd rather that the poll system had been such that, once you'd voted for something you couldn't then un-vote and vote for something else, as it seems that quite a few people may be using it for amusement purposes. Or are just chronically undecided and suddenly all change their votes at roughly the same time.

Song Wars as a concept is great. However, in practice it is clearly inherently flawed if Kiss and Europe are the winners. An atrocity for the ages.

I dunno. It's kind of left me thinking "What the fuck was the point of all that?"
Not wishing to sound overly grumpy or anything, but it seems like such a letdown after a genuinely fabby contest.

It might be a good idea to have all the songs from the previous Song Wars blacklisted from future ones.
