Firstly, I wouldn't put marmite on anything, it's fucking horrid stuff.

It was really quite nice. I'm gonna do it again later in the week and add baked apple chunks under the custard.

I was having a conversation with a couple of people on Facebook about custard (yes, my life is that exciting), I had a thought that if you froze a carton of custard, you could slice it quite easily. So as I was bored, I placed a carton in the freezer overnight.

You can see the custard (pre-sliced) in this picture.

Whilst MrsA was shopping, I had a very swift pint in The Ship, as it was full of pissed old men and smelled of Parma Violets and ammonia. So I left and then we went to the Bier Kellar for a pint, which was also shit. Being a creature of habit, I decided that the Scarborogh Hotel was the answer, and I had nice beers there, before getting the train home.

Wow, interesting combo. You'll be at the Duncan and Prince of Wales next. ;)

Things can largely only get better, pub-wise, from the Ship. As long as you don't go to the Three Legs.

I quite like the Scarborough. Good beers there. I've been told to check out Doctor Okells, Whitelocks, North Bar, Palace,Town Hall Tavern (where the lawyers hang out), and the Victoria.

Was thinking about investigating when the practice night is at the local bell tower. Stepped outside to put the rubbish out and heard the distinct sound of rounds in the distance. I think that answers my question.

Not been ringing in ages, so I know that if I do start up again, my hands will be ripped to shreds by the bell ropes.

I always give 'em a big tug :)

In other bell news, the White Chapel foundry told us that 1634 tenor they've recently retuned wasn't 13cwt as we always thought, but now weighs 14 cwt! As I was usually following on the tenor whilst the band did more advanced methods (hey, I just have to count to 8, and they have to fall behind me!), I felt so much more awesome knowing I could steadily ring something that big. They should be re-installed in November, in time for Remembrance Day.

I quite like the Scarborough. Good beers there. I've been told to check out Doctor Okells, Whitelocks, North Bar, Palace,Town Hall Tavern (where the lawyers hang out), and the Victoria.

Whitelocks is pretty good, especially as you seem to be the traditional sort. People speak highly of North Bar, but I've never rated it, other than as a narrow, dingy venue for people who think they're cooler than they are. North's neighbour, Sela, is far more like it. Similar clientèle, but the place itself (and atmosphere) are miles better.

My favourite place at the moment (especially with the Swan in a seemingly endless state of dormancy) is Art's. Lovely food, the nicest atmosphere, and I'm told the beer is good too (I'm not a pint man, I must confess). Norman and Oporto are fantastic during the day, but transform into hellholes as night falls. Be warned.

Victoria is another good place for the traditional pub setting. I've never been in the Town Hall Tavern.

Er... ;)

I pasted some maple syrup onto some bacon and grilled it a couple of weeks ago, that was rather nice.

I now have to start organising the laborious process of moving house.

I'm already not looking forward to it. Although the fact that I'm moving into a house along with two women might change my mind!

although at least she looks better than when she went through that skelator thing a few years back.

You'd think Nintendo would put that on the box. 'Browser only compatible with Beex'

Wisdom tooth making a break for freedom. Again. It hurts quite a bit, but generally only lasts a few days before stopping again. It seems to only do it once a year or so. I should proabbly see the dentist, but then s/he might wish to take them out.
