Almost like saying Comical came up with it ;)

Didn't PTS get into The Metro once, though?

Bambi is the one I like, mostly because my dad took me to see it on my 4th birthday and then again on my 14th. My dad (6ft 2, and built like a brick shithouse back then) cried like a baby the whole time whilst surrounded by 6 year olds.

In unrelated news is it me or has Denis Leary not aged a day in the last 20 years? I'm watching this new douchbags and donuts DVD and believe it or now he's now 52 and looks about 40. You can tell it's not facelifts so I'm going to go with the painting in the attic thing.

Yes, especially when this:

http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/we_ ... _1_1024925

makes a lie of that. Either metro are fucking idiots, or they've lied about how they came up with the idea to make *direct copies* of everything on the site.

I'll have to hope others point out this staggering rip-off for me. Had something similar on reddit last week about a JPEG of a Kitkat pimp that regularly does the rounds that was ripped off from the site years ago. Ironically its one of those things where the copy got a lot more attention than the original source. Disappoint.

Yeah, I just have. I don't want to get all Viacom about it, but it is a little too much of a piss-take to let slide.

Ha, and now I've just been called by a radio station asking for an interview. Seems like the curious ripoff hasn't gone unnoticed.

Is it the song the woman sings in the snow during the Christmas Past bit? I've seen it with it in, but in my DVD copy it's been cut.

Really? Awesome. I hate that song.

I have the DVD version without the song, and as much as I used to hate it, it's weird it not being there. I had to go searching for a download with it back in!

It was cut for the US release, by the way.

Ah, they did mention a PX. And I suppose with future technology it wouldn't be hard too manufacture such an item.

And bikini tops would be high on any priority list when setting up a new colony.

I imagine the bikini forshadows a scene where she's subathing on the beach and then gets attached by a plesiosaur, or something, and then they have underwater funtimes.

We've already had the 'strip down to a bikini in front of startled boy then jump down a waterfall and spend the next scene in your bikini". Was OK.

I'm sorry, but I am going to have to stop you there. BSG almost had it, the new series I assume you are referring to? The same series that whilst lost in the depths of space with little food, fuel, people or protection, argues amongst itself to elect a president to the detriment of all. That has political broadcasts across the fleet, that knowingly follows the bad direction of someone because, "they are elected person". That enters into negotiation with a mutinous fuel ship, a fuel ship that has one chance of survival, the people it is blackmailing. It is full of American bullshit that really ruined the series for exactly the reasons you mentioned. It could have been excellent without all that bollocks, but instead you have all those filler episodes of harangued looking presidents and mutinous bad guys, who get turned by the American way.

I don't get your and Pete's complaint here. People are, as a rule, dicks, and generally moronic dicks. Why on earth, just because you give them a spaceship to live in, would that change? It's genetic.

Has the exponential increase in our level of technology over the last 100 years done anything to make us, as a species, less idioitic, selfish and short sighted? No. So why would a bit more of an increase to have spaceships change that?

Exactly, people are dicks, one guy in BSG had a big fuck off spaceship with big fuck off guns, and a crew to follow him, why did he not say, "my way or the highway. follow me, or I a) leave you here, b) blast you to little pieces. That includes you, madame president."

So BSG was a bad series because it reflected how people might actually behave, rather than having some Swiss Family Robinson in space set up?

I'm lost.

Yes. Reality TV presents what people are actually like. Good TV is good TV because it doesn't generally show what people are actually like.

I didn't say it was a bad series, I just said it would have been better without all that politics bollocks, esp all that stuff when Gaius was standing for president.

Would you have ditched the court case?
BSG was a series about politics, religion, bigotry and shooting things in space. It needed all of them to work.

Unfortunately it was about tedious people doing all those things. What you actually want is The West Wing meets Father Ted meets (uh, not sure) meets Firefly.

If you're including co-productions, then the absolute best is Who Framed Roger Rabbit?.

I fucking love Disney, I do.

I'm gonna have to go with Bambi or Fox & The Hound as my favourites, simply because they were the first ones I saw, in the cinema no less, when I about six.

And just because I posted them to Facebook last week, I'll put them here too:

That's pretty much all the classic titles released so far on Blu-ray. I've had Fox & The Hound delivered since I took that picture and The Incredibles, Cars 2, The Lion King & The Princess & The Frog are all on order.

Also... Disney has just announced several theatrical re-releases in 3D.

* Beauty and the Beast – January 13, 2012
* Finding Nemo – September 14, 2012
* Monsters, Inc. – January 18, 2013 (Monsters University, a prequel to the original film, arrives in theaters in Disney Digital 3D on June 21, 2013)
* The Little Mermaid – September 13, 2013

These are expected U.S. release dates, whether or not we get them in the U.K. remains to be seen

I bought a dvd player from sainsburys the other day. It is a LG DVX640. In the box there was a lead with the yellow, red and white leads to a scart. Below the sockets on the bottom of it are three more sockets, labelled "Progressive scan/component". is this the lead I need to connect it to the component video on the television? Currys seem to have some for sale for £12.99 which is 10x the cost. Or this one?

I'm quite sure I have a spare component cable, which you are more than welcome to have for the price of postage. I'll have a look later and get back to you.

Edit: Technically, component cables have five plugs as you will also need two more for left & right audio.

That's incredibly kind of you, thank you. Do I need anything else?

See my edit above. Also, what length cable do you need? The one I have is 1.5m at most.

I've just used Audio cables (5 obv) to connect a DVD player to an LCD screen for component.

You are considerably more advanced with this sort of thing, though.

I figured that if I spend the mornings in the basement on the desktop computer, I can spend the afternoons in the living room watching BSG, using the laptop, as I've only ever seen up to s1e4, despite owning all four series.

"Component" cables are just three or more RCA cables. Standard audio cables like these fit into all the holes, so just make sure you plug yellow at one end into yellow at the other, and it doesn't matter if the cable is red. With me?

They're the same connector type just different colours to make it easier to not get them crossed over. It's simple really but I guess a dedicated cable might be better quality / more durable.

Cancel them. I found my component cable, so you will just need to buy the left & right audio cables.

That's what he is buying, just three times.

Thanks again, TK, but it's OK. You'll probably need it soon, anyway. No point you going to lots of trouble for me.

Rush hour traffic in cities is quite something, isn't it? I jst dropped MrsA off in Bradford so she can get the train to Manchester to see Peter Kay and it's crazy. Hopefully it'll be quieter when I pick her up from there afterwards, at 11pm. I might go to the National Media Museum tomorrow, as it is free.
