Mine roughly means "son of John", which may be the most tedious surname root there is.

The name "Alison" means "son of Alistair", and, as such, used to be a boys name.

I can't find much on my surname. Just it means an enclosure or village by a wood, or somesuch.

One history of my surname is from the Norman personal name Lodovicus, which is composed of the Germanic elements hlod and wig, meaning "fame" and "war". Which is ace.

I'm enjoying Planet Dinosaur (the kids are properly loving it - it's lead to First Born's best picture yet), but the animation is pretty variable - some of it's ace, and some of it is bonkersly jerky and robotic.

Still, it's lead to me rewatching the JP films - JP 1 Monday, and the second right now. Awesome, awesome stuff.

I'll be rewatching the massively underrated JP3 later in the week.

I should probably get round to the Jurassic Park films one day. The Mega CD game was pretty good though.

Poor Jonty was an hour away from being put to sleep when we got him, he's currently at my friend's house btw. What happened was that she split up with her husband and was left alone in the house with two small children and was panicking as a couple of houses near where she lived had been broken into so I lent him to her becase as dippy as he is he's fucking massive.
Next thing I know is that her husband comes to pick the children up for his weekly Saturday visit, sees Jonty, and they got talking, went for a walk and he ended up moving back in. Jonty is on a pure meat diet and hailed as second only to god in that house and he would never forgive me if I demanded him back while he's being fed raw beef and chicken every night. So freaking hallmark but true, although I personally would question the logic of taking a man back because he decided he wanted to give it another go, not for his children but for a dog.

We had a very nice time thanks. Had a bit of a cold but it didn't stop me having fun. Especially since the manager gave us premium drinks bands for our all inclusive for messing up our room type on the first night. My surname translates as "Son of Dick", which technically applies to all men. Idiotically, my parents decided to make my first name "Dick" meaning I am a "Dick Son of Dick".

My Great-Grandfather changed our surname to what it is now from Frankensteinburg, which translates to Franken stone castle - Franken is the german name for Franconia, which is the area Nuremberg is in and is also famed for it's head cheese. Apparently having a very German name didn't work too well when trading in the UK during the 30s and the double Jewish thing wasn't completely advisable when living in Fürth either what with that whole Reichskristallnacht thing and all that unpleasantness with Dachau an all.

Out in London last night, good unholy wossnames. There's clearly a new load of students in town.

Today, I have seen 2 students in their pants and one in a robe. All girls. And still I hate them all.

Hel took the car straight from work to meet a mate for tea. hers is still knacked so she dropped me at the allotment on the way. watered and picked chillis and got as far as the pub on the walk home, where i'm now sat paying for internet and drinking. ace. never been brave enough to go to the pub alone before.

That particular pub or pubs in general?

I love going to a pub with a good book and sit there an enjoy a pint. Aside from that time of course in the Mackie when some Hatchett-Face told me that I was anti-social for sitting there reading, and demanded to know why I did it.

Sipping a pint and reading a book in a pub is one of life's great pleasures.

It's also very good cover for people-watching when on holiday.

In general. i don't even like waiting for people on my own. it's one of the side effects of being wired up the way i am. well, was. small victory i reckon.

Fair so! Now hold that ground and expand on it. Reading books in pubs is lovely. If need be, why not convert your front room into your own private pub and enjoy the cosy pleasure it gives you?
