The single player was pitched just about right - although the difficulty curve for the Elite licence started off as a wall and then plateaued, so the final few stages were pretty much an exercise in repetition. Then I finished the crash stages, which were terribly random and tedious.

Not quite Game of the 360 for me, but definitely right up there. Certainly was about as good as a sandbox racer could be. (Which is why NFS:Hot Pants was, in comparison, a rubbish step backwards.)

It's something to do while drinking and talking shit.

No game has bettered it so far in that respect.

How many Beexers have Split/Second? I believe that to be a racer not without merit.

Its out now - 800 points and it has an updated version of the Autolog from the last full game (so showing you who beat your score on what levels and when)

I've downloaded the demo, but if I weren't playing Gears I probably would have downloaded Resi 4 'HD'. Hmmmm.

Well honestly, this is the best 800 points I've spent in a long time.

Loving the game - pretty much exactly what I hoped it would be back when I first read about it. I only ever used to play the Crash modes in the early Burnout games, as I'm spacky at actual racing games but just loved the simple fun to be had within Crash.

Anyway, ace game, and can see myself sinking many excellent hours into this.

Also for those of you who are all about the high scores and beating chums and scoreboards and all that, then you should probably get this.

Just read the EuroGamer review, and think they've been well harsh overall. Also seemed to be a lot of mad frothing reader comments on there, though that's hardly unusual.

The bit I will agree with though, is how it can be frustrating having to beat the first mode, to unlock the other (more fun) modes. Still it is what it is, and so far it's not been a major issue for me.

I've got it... as well as gears 3 and resi 4 HD!

Playing it a bit and leaving resi for now as i've been through that on at least 2 platforms at least 4 times each :) it is a fave of all time

I like it but its a bit frustrating as these type of games can be, the whole fun side of things is trying to beat your last score, which gets very very annoying!!!

EG's main sticking point is mine too, I just want to go for scores, not worry about cars slipping through which you can't always do much about.

A feeling of powerlessness and failure is something I can get just by doing a jobsearch, I don't need to pay 800 points for the privilege. Beyond that it looks like a corking implementation, just one that's too pig-headedly mode-mean for my 800 space pence. Hell, the demo doesn't even let you try the three playstyles.

I don't necessarily disagree with that, and certainly if the demo's only got that one mode then that was an idiot decision (I didn't bother with the demo and just went straight for the full game).

Ooooh, also.... Game loads, Primitives start playing - I become very happy. Ten seconds later, some total cunt starts yelling over it all and I have to wait an age to mute him. I appreciate voices can be better than written instructions in some games but why go for a supremely annoying one like that?

It's the SSX3 voice pushed to some pointlessly x-treme level. Mercifully one can mute it in settings but then you have to take your eye off the action to read the subtitles. Why not just have a proper normal voice, then everyone's happy?

So I've now completed this, or at least done the bare minimum to unlock every junction to all the game modes. If you believe the EG review, what I have achieved is impossible since BO Crash is The Hardest Game Ever, or something.

Banging on about how terrific this game is will soon become boring, so I'll stop, however if anyone else here decides to take the plunge, then please do post here.

I played the demo of this and I thought it was alright. I can see how trying to beat high scores would be addictive but for me (and perhaps it was just because of the demo) I thought it was a bit slow.

Shame the demo doesn't showcase the best game modes, as I can see people just thinking that was it.

Yeah, I was thinking that was it. It does look fun but I think I'll wait and see if it comes in a sale in the future. I've got a lot to play already!

I tried the demo last night and then bought it and spent around 3 hours just unlocking stuff

Its fun and does remind me a little of crash modes in previous burnouts however for the highscore chasing the one problem i can see is the random nature of things like the pizza truck - so you could be going great and get the truck and something amazing to give you a massive score - or something bad.

Yeah that can be a touch random, though I've found that even the 'bad' stuff like the thing that slows down the traffic, doesn't make that much of a negative impact on your overall score.

Anyway now I know someone else has the game, look out for some challenges heading your way. ;)

Apologies - i seem to have even won the game where i got virtually no points :-)

Thats me got at least one star on every event and got the 'end credits' to the game but there will be a lot to go back over - I just went back to the very first map and did the whole thing without letting a single car escape.

I think you won/kept the cup three times in a row off me. I came quite close on one and just lost by about a million dollars, so must keep trying!

There is an achievement for winning it '3 times in a row' - if you want it i can simply challenge you and not try to score points

You should have one in your queue from this morning which is a fairly avarage score but i'll put a few 'low' ones through - the other thing if you've not got it yet is to pick something out of the autolog view and beat the score (we both have plenty of 15 / 20 million scores that would be pretty easy to beat)

I played this some more last night and I think I can see where the fun is. It's nicely presented (Apart from shouty announcer man) and I like the song clips they play when certain events are triggered.

I think I might buy it you know...

'only' 800 points is what swung it for me - a little play around and a fun looking game and i'll grab it - if it was 1200 or 1600 then i wouldnt bother (or it would go onto the list waiting for a 'sale' only to be forgotten about)

What did you want - because there are other game modes which are 'better' than the basic demo (I prefer both the timed and the inferno modes)

I wanted more of the old school crash junctions where you are controlling the jump & flight of the vehicle.

The demo just felt like a puzzle game rather than a driving game.

Praying for Burnout Paradise 2 to arrive next year

:this: I mostly just do the 90 second mode. The basic mode you have to beat to unlock everything else, can be frustrating as it's so hard to keep your eye on all the traffic and very easy for five cars or whatever to slip through, then you're screwed.

I've said this up above somewhere, but they really didn't help themselves with this demo.

So for the game and the challenge this morning - i started the game - crashed into the traffic and just put the controller down - its amazing how much you actually get without taking part !

That should be the 3rd win for you - so i'll go back to actually trying to beat the scores.
