Mrs Riles suggested the idea of having the ASDAS do a delivery for the Friday afternoon for communal supplies and essentials. It's rather a good idea.

I suggest not doing what we did last time. Even I couldn't have eaten that much, and I'm not called Fat Dave for nothing.

Is Maria planning on doing a chilli again? I certainly don't expect her to of course, but wondered if she had any thoughts on this?

I think the large ASDAS shop is a really good idea too.

Should we start a shopping list thread? How far in advance can you book an Asda delivery date?

I wasn't suggesting we do it all today!

I don't think getting an order in on the Monday before the Friday is unreasonable though because of choosing delivery times.

Also, what to vegamatarions like Kalmar eat? People need a little time to think about things and post, are all just going to eat different things or just order a mountain of bacon and eggs for breakfast like last year (I'm down with that).

I can remember you trying to leg it out of the kitchen with that massive pack of bacon too! :D

Craster is supplying the wine, so long as Curio is ordering cheese/biscuits/port it's fine by me. ;)

Also, is anyone not coming due to finances? We could use the cash to offer a helping hand maybe?

So we have 30 people going, and 34 beds! cool!

Also, I notice there is a tennis court, did anyone play last time? I might be up for a game of that if anyone else is?

Excellent, I have no idea how good I am, I've only played my kids really in the last 10 years, and before that probably not properly since school (when I was quite good) 18 years ago.

Maria won't be cooking anything as demanding as chilli for 30 people this time around, I'm afraid.

She'd love to, but I the baby requires an awful lot of attention.

I often find it hard to work out how much wood to bring. 34 of us all bringing a bag from a garage should keep the place heated all weekend, but at a risk that some bags might not be opened. Yet I'm loath to suggest that only a few of us bring logs out of a fear of having nothing burning on Saturday night.

Proper fires are cool, and we need to make use of this.

EDIT Unless some bring kindling and some folks just logs?

I would point out that access to logs is easier for some than others. Living in a flat in north London, I can safely say I haven't send many logs for sale.

Also some of us will be using public transport to get there!

Don't mind chipping in for wood, but don't think I will be bringing any...

The 24 hour garage at the bottom of our road sells logs, kindling and pornography. South London is so much better than north.

I cut and split about 2 tons of birch at the weekend, so I dare say I can bring plenty and take it away again if unused.

I'm just going to throw this out there....but is anyone really so badly off that they couldn't have gathered together £80 over the last 6 months or so...?

Sorry if I'm speaking out of turn, just my opinion. I'd rather the extra cash go on communal supplies or a takeout one night.

I think, had this been a couple of years ago, I would almost certainly have been in that situation. I barely made it one week into the month before my bank account was empty again and we had to get by on what was in the cupboards. And that was before I drove so my travel to work only cost £32 a month, whereas now I pay about £350 a month on car payments, insurance and petrol never mind road tax and mot. This time three years ago I would have been incapable of saving money simply because every penny I had was marked for bills and food.

Now that I've written that, I'm wide eyed at remembering how little money I earned and how little it cost me to get work (conversely, how much a car costs me.) :spew: It's amazing how quickly you adjust to your income and forget what it was like before.

Plus, of course, it's not £80 - it £80 per person, plus travel, plus food and drink.

In the event that anyone does want to take up the offer of financial assistance, then I'm not going to object to what the majority want. I also really hadn't thought it would have been that applicable but I am happy to stand corrected on that. It's only £6.50ea so I'm not bothered about that, if I was, I would have just asked for it back :P I just thought any leftover money would be better utilised for communal needs.

Gilly, I remember those day too!

What are you all blathering the bloody hell on about?

We've already paid and have money over. Any new subsidised people will not take money out of the pot. They can just come for free if needs be!

Curio's pointing out that the money we have left over won't have to be 'spent' on anyone else who might come along, as the place is already paid for.

The bit where everyone was worried than an extra person coming would mean a reduction in the spare cash we have. It wouldn't alter a damn thing.

FOURTEEN MORE SLEEPS!!

Myp & I have managed to get the whole day off work so we'll be there nice & early to begin the merriment. I'm trying to decide between tram-bus-bus or tram-train-bus. Or the crazy bus-bus-bus option. Decisions.

Anyway, what are the evening/main meal plans? I vote for a BBQ on Saturday.
