the RWC 2011 starts today, with the 1st England match tomorrow. Going to be odd watching the rugby with a coffee instead of a beer.

First game starts in an hour. I don't think I'll get to see a lot of the whole tournament, though.

I'm supporting Suid Afrika as they speak dutch-ish, so it sounds like Oranje is playing, and Italy, because they're the underdog and my university was next to stadio flaminio - where italy plays its six nations games- when i lived in rome

Yes.

Very intense, but very polite.

Can't believe that Tonga are winning by fifty clear points!

:D

Actual in-game comment, so I'll spoiler it for the sake of Kovacs:

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
WTF were Tonga thinking in the first minute or two with that quick line out next to their own try line? Mental!

If anyone's interested in the Xbox game, don't bother as it's a bit shite, apparently. Jonah Lomu's Rugby Challenge comes out in October and that looks a lot better.

I was about to say 'it seems to have settled down now' and then NZ cross the line, again. Tough call using the video.

Yeah, I had a quick go the other day. I don't think it was a patch on the original Jonah Lomu though, so it'll be interesting to see what that's like.

I know I shouldn't expect miracles, but the ITV stream has disconnected 3 times now and I've had to watch that bastarding Barclays advert before it starts again.

The original Jonah Lomu game was great.

"He's digging like a demented mole, there!"

Not sure it'll have withstood the test of time, tbh.

Rugby Challenge, or the World Cup one? I've already said avoid the WC game.

I was talking about the World Cup one, I only found out that there was another game about 30 seconds before you mentioned it.

I had no idea they were doing one of these again. Will we win?

Currently watching England vs. Argentina in HD and there's a lovely girl running up and down the touchline with a boom mic. This is why HD is better.

I don't really care about Rugby that much but still, we've qualified for the World Cup so might as well watch it. I like the bit after they all fall down where the cross man has to explain all the stupid rules to the players, it makes me feel better about not knowing them wither.

The first half was a bit scrappy, but the game picked up about half-way through the second half.

World Cup in HD? Lucky sod. I'm having to cope with a very fuzzy analogue picture as I can't get ITV on digital at the moment. Might catch some of Ireland v US tomorrow: I like the idea of seeing how the yanks are developing as a team.

Also: did I imagine it or was there a streaker?

The England game succinctly proved why Steve Ryder is an utter cock.

1. At half time, a man dressed in sky blue, with sky blue face paint, draped in an Argentinian flag was wearing a t shirt saying "thank you to my wife for letting me come to NZ" or similar. Ryder questioned whether he would be so thankful now, given England's first Hals performance. He wasn't an England fan, you prick.

2. Leading into the first ad break post final whistle. "so, an England win, but will their supporters be satisfied winning by only one point". Sentiment is relevant, but it was a four point win.

Utter cock who shouldn't be on TV.

The other people in my team and on the surrounding desks are all South African, Welsh Kiwi or Australian. The two in my actual team are a Saffer and a Welsh, and both love rugby.

Would have been hilarious for me if Wales had won.

I missed the first half, and the first few minutes of the 2nd half, what I saw was a very reasonable, but yeah, they can't afford to give away that many penalties, as a better kicker would have punished England.

If England top the group, they have France and then Ireland (if they get that far)?

Nobody is kicking well this tournament. Haven't they changed the ball or something, which is why pretty much every team is kicking under 50% from non-trivial kicks?

From what I've seen only the northern hemisphere seems to be struggling.

Nobody is kicking well this tournament. Haven't they changed the ball or something, which is why pretty much every team is kicking under 50% from non-trivial kicks?

From what I've seen only the northern hemisphere seems to be struggling.

Argentina barely hit a kick all game against England.
