OMD makes you sad? Are you wired wrong?

This really isn't a good collection of sad songs. But still that isn't the theme. It's songs which make you sad. There's only one here that really sounds like it could make anyone sad.

Not enough Joy Division here.

Now here's a proper selection of songs to make you sad:

Even a jaunty song would make someone sad if it happened to be the song playing on the pub jukebox when you find out one of your best friends had died in a particularly tragic manner. I'd imagine.

I can't listen to Rhythym is a Dancer because of similar reasons without remembering the last time I heard it at a service for someone.

Elvis - Tis indeed a sad song, I like it though.
Jimmy Eat World - Always been a fan. I like the guys voice a lot.
OMD - I know the song by the chorus but I haven't heard it in years. Not particularly sad but an OK song.
The national - Yep, sad song.

This thread is hard work...

The Mortal Coil - Yep, again... a sad song. Very sad in fact. This one could "get me"
Tool - Not exactly sad but not as bad as I thought it would be.. Don't think it'll score for me though.

I've just started a new job I don't particularly want, which involves being in an office with a radio pumping out Magic FM for eight and a half hours per day. Right now, I'm having to listen to about fifty songs per day that make me sad. Can't they go ONE day without playing "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" by cocksodding Aerosmith? Or "Man, I Feel Like a Woman" by Shania friggin Twain?

ANYWAY. That song by The National is brilliant, and so's that video. Looking at the YouTube page for it, about 25% of people having 'disliked' it, because they don't think it's as good as a different video for the same song, the soupbrained clods, seemingly because the puppety promo didn't take as much effort.

This is why:

(a) The majority of people incorrectly think Terminator 2 was better than The Terminator.

and

(b) We'll soon find out that Mike Judge's Idiocracy wasn't a fun old comedy film, but rather A DOCUMENTARY FROM THE FUTURE.

I die cress. The National > This Mortal Coil >>>>> OMD.

[Oh, and DerekFME had to go and undo his Nico-liking excellence with that Joy Division dirge. The only reason that song makes me sad is that it makes me remember I have to share a planet with people who like it.]

As I said on twitter, Mark X is a nitwit sometimes.

However I do agree that Terminator is better than Terminator 2.

They are different types of films, I posit that people who prefer Terminator to T2 prefer Alien over Aliens and vice versa.

They are different types of films but Terminator is better (though not having an annoying child and being of sensible length). I think Aliens is possibly slightly better than Alien but there's not much in it between them.

Not sure this is the best place for this, but Terminator is better if you like a story and psychological thrillers, T2 is better if you like action films and are happy to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Alien/Aliens are similar.

In fact... (fast forward to main forum)

Terminator 2 would be fine if it wasn't 5 years long.
