Ordered my books for my hols next week, should arrive in time. I went for:
Tales of Unease - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (only know him for Sherlock).
Ghost Stories of M R James (Been meaning to get some of his stuff since watching Whistle and I'll Come to You)
Gothic Short Stories (Various writers)

£2.44 each from Amazon with free delivery :metul:

Nothing like a good horror story while relaxing by the pool. World War Z always reminds me of sunbathing with pints of San Miguel. :)

In your face, man!

That was amazing fun, though. I've never done much karting and certainly not been to a track before where they have all the technology and you get printouts of all your lap times. :nerd: Really good. It even tells you who got the fastest times in the last day, week and month.

I got fastest of the day, 7th fastest all week and 9th fastest all month.

What the hell is a MTU setting and how can it change automatically causing me not to be able to connect to xbox live and how can I change it back?

It's set in your router. Just search for the name of your router and MTU setting. Don't see why it would have changed on its own, though.

The thing is the router has been altered to be a switch I think, we got it off my girlfriends brother and as the computer is all in swedish I can't seem to find where I'd find the ip address. If I go into cmd and type in "ipconfig" get a massive list of over 200 ports? or something and don't get an ip address.

Ah wait... does it need to be plugged in for it to work?

No, routers which have been changed to switches work on faery dust and moon beams.

I meant to the computer via a ethernet cable. Not power.

Is it because it's on the wireless Im getting all the bollocks and no ip address?

Cable doesn't appear to be working :(

That might explain why the xbox isnt working.

Just thought I’d share something interesting.. well.. to some anyway.

I purchased 2100 points off ShopTo this afternoon for Radiant Silvergun (which is out tomorrow! Excellent!)

I paid my money for one of those instant codes. Once you’ve paid, your ShopTo account gets access to a scan of the card that has been scratched off clearly revealing the code. I tired inputting the code to Xbox.Com but an error message came up saying that the card had already been used.

I got in touch with ShopTo to complain and they asked me to call Microsoft and once I logged it with them, they would see what they could do. I begrudgingly did this as I’m at work and it made me look busy.

After speaking with Microsoft, they said that they don’t offer support to shops that sell cards like this. They only support shops that sell the card which hasn’t been scratched off. They apologised and said there’s nothing they can do.

I went back to ShopTo and told them that Microsoft said that the code had been used. They were very kind and agreed to refund it and I purchased a proper card to be posted to me...

Moral of the story... Don’t buy those “instant” codes.

As the retailer, ShopTo wasn't "very kind" here, it was complying with its legal responsibilities. You might have had to stamp your feet a bit but it couldn't have left you high and dry.

Well, yes.. I suppose they were doing what they had too but their customer service was top notch so there’s no complaints there.

Is anyone else disconnecting from Xbox Live constantly? I'm trying to download the FIFA demo and it keeps disconnecting me. However, I've literally got my new telly today and I'm worried it's my new router, seeing as this is the first time I've booted my Xbox up. So, router or Xbox Live? Anyone fancy downloading the FIFA demo and letting me know if they get disconnected? I'll pay you with love!

Xbox support tweeted something this afternoon about "being aware of technical issues" with Xbox live so it might be something to do with that.

They'd best get it sorted for Radiant Silvergun!

Just had a nose bleed...booo :( Sat on a white sofa, unable to move for fear of dribbling everywhere so I called Ramsea over to get me some tissue or kitchen roll. He doesn't like blood. The conversation went something like this:

"Ramsea...Ramsea...Oi, knob'ead. Get me some tissue please?"
"Urgh, are you beeding? Is that blood? What are you bleeding for? Bleugh."
"Just go get me some kitchen paper!"
"Argh, bleugh...Why are you bleeding. Oh my God..."
"Hurry up!"
*Throws kitchen paper towards me*
"Get some off for me! I've got no hands!"
*Juggles handfuls of blood*
"Oh my God, that's so sick. Bleugh. What are you bleeding for!?"

Useless fool. Managed not to get any all over my sofa though!

Stage 1: Who is this utter wanker?

So, the house is now clean, we've unpacked almost everything, and last night had a nice meal and I had lots of awesome beer in a nice pub. Tainted everso slightly by the note left on the windscreen of MrsA's car saying "Learn to read sign on wall private property no parking this is not a dumping ground if it is not gone tomorrow, it will be towed away". So, after she left for work i've gone into town and checked the title plans of the property it was parked outside. Turns out, the boundary does stretch halfway into the road. Which is interesting.

Jesus. They literally own the road? He sounds like a cunt.

Mostly things like 'For fun, bitches. That's how I roll. '

Seriously, you weren't aware of the legend that is Westwood? I'd better let Malia fill you in on this.

I have heard of him and I've seen him on Pimp My Ride or whatever it was called but I wasn't fully aware that "Tim Westwood" isn't just a persona he adopts...he was on Buzzcocks last night and I pretty much went through the stages Trooper describes!

The 4 stages of tim westwood

Stage 1: Who is this utter wanker?
Stage 2: Oh, it's a joke, pretty funny :)
Stage 3: WTF? he is actually serious? What a cock.
Stage 4: He is giving his ludicrous cock lifestyle 100% though, respect has to be given.

He is quite ridiculous and I'm not sure I get it....

Also: Glad you're in now Mali...I hope the dude over the road doesn't prove to be as much of a cock as his note suggests. Although.......
