The last Tiger Woods game on the PC was released in 2007, since then it has been console exclusive.
Personally, I much prefer to play golf games on the PC for some reason, maybe because I grew up on Jack Nicklaus and Links on my creaky old 386? So was pretty happy when I saw that Tiger woods 2012 had finally been released on the PC. Woohoo!

Apart from it being a total abomination and pretty much nothing to do with the console version...

Nothing will beat TW2004. I tried 08 a couple of years ago and it was terrible. Like the man himself, a spent force.

That game does seem pretty dreadful from the review. I must admit, I've not enjoyed a 'realistic' golf game since PGA Tour Golf II on the Mega Drive. I've much preferred the other takes on the sport - Everybody's Golf 1 & 2, Mario Golf and particularly Ace Golf on the Gamecube.

I did pick up Tiger Woods 07 and 10 on the 360. 10 was particularly buggy and I've not tried 7 yet. I even picked up 10 on the Wii for the MotionPlus control and haven't been arsed to play that either.

I should really try playing some of these games I buy.

That's a shame, I love a good golf game. I've got Tiger Woods '09 on the 360 and got a lot of play out of it.

PGA TOUR 12 really does look terrible, like golf games did about ten years ago, in fact :'(

All the best golf games are in MAME anyway :DD

Since tw'08 DS i'm convinced that the only proper way to play a golf game is with a touch screen. Just downloaded tw12 iOS in the EA sale last week, seems nice

I used to love the Jack Nicklaus game, I think that was the last time I proper enjoyed a golf game to be honest! Me and my dad spent hours using the editor to build courses, we had a book that gave the layout of a load of famous courses, and we also did the local course that my dad was a member of :D

I spent an obscene amount of time playing this on my Amiga back in the day.

Looks primitive now but the 3D tracking on the shots was gob-smacking at the time.

And then if you go right back of course there was Leader Board, where it took about ten seconds to draw the screen for each shot :DD

I remember some epic sessions with Microprose Golf. Streets ahead of anything at the time.

:this:

I remember being amazed for years afterwards that nothing came close, once I finally ditched my Amiga and moved to the PC for games, I was properly miffed to discover that all PC golf games worked on the 'Leader Board' model of a static screen with no 3D shot tracking.

Tiger Woods '09 on the 360 felt like a sort of spiritual successor to Microprose Golf.

I don't know why I'm so enamoured with the 3D shot tracking thing, it just seemed so cool and modern and exciting to 'be the ball'.

You could get Microprose Golf on the PC couldn't you? I remember playing it and I didn't have an Amiga or an ST...

I remember playing World Class Leaderboard with my Dad loads. It was one of only three games he would play (the others being Tetris and Eagles Nest).

Good times...

I suspect that by the time I moved to PC Microprose Golf was pretty old and not available for purchase, plus it would have looked fairly shonky by then too.

It was the '3D ball tracking' that I was surprised to find hadn't been copied.

Which was the game that used actual videos of professional golfers swinging superimposed on the scenery? The one that also had commentary from Peter Alliss. Must be at least 10 years old but I recall that being pretty awesome.

Certainly looks a lot better than this review. Those graphics look appalling for a modern game.

I liked the one in the pub with the trackball, you could really give it some welly.

My mate was obsessed with it though, he'd spend a fortune on it each night. He got quite good at at.
