I can't judge these unless I have a synopsis of each of the submitters lives so I can ascertain which is the most fitting.

It's 1pm and he's out of bed - he can't possibly be an art college graduate...

I'll have you know I was always up early to get high before I went into college.

'Up from the night before' does not count as 'up early', you skinny-jeans-plaid-shirt-deck-shoe wearing waster.

Is what I want to say to art students :)

It's gotta be a loose fit.

That polyphonic spree track is quite good. Not my favourite though.

Tsk. Whoever picked Creep should have at least gone with the Vega Choir version for extra-excellent pretension points.

13th Floor Elevators - Awesome! Delightfully trippy video, too - is one of them drinking paint straight out of a can or something?

Joy Division - Whisper it, but I've never really liked Joy Division. This is dreadful, dreary rubbish.

Radiohead - I liked The Bends, when I had the mental fortitude to stomach its content. Really don't have much time for the rest of their stuff, including this - in actual fact, I always thought their first album was a bit naff.

Polyphonic Spree - Oh yes, that's pleasant enough. I can see it irritating me after a bit, though.

So... there has to be a loser, and it's absolutely, definitely going to be Joy Division. The Elevators get three points, the Spree get two and Radiohead can pick up the single.

I've been very surprised here:

13th Floor Elevators > Radiohead > Joy Division

Thought it was a shoe-in for Radiohead and Joy Division, but it wasn't.

The Joy Division song is one of their most miserable so perhaps a little difficult to take. I'm sure people would rather have something a bit more upbeat. Something more optimistic triumph. Personally if I'm not around I want people to be bloody miserable about it.

The Polyphonic Spree have been a favourite of mine for years. That's not (IMO) the best track of theirs by a long chalk, but it's enough to grab the points, ahead of the 13th Floor Elevators in second.

You other two are miserable bastards, but I'll give 'Creep' a point as it's a good song.
