I'm trying to automate the final processes of my dying company, and need some help.
I have a process that polls store orders, imports into databases yadda yadda and creates a text file.
The only manual process left in this procedure is to e-mail the file to someone.

I need to create a script that can run at the same time every day (so something using Scheduled Tasks calling a batch file I guess) that picks up the same text file, and sends it to the same address.

This is literally to save me having to click New E-mail in Outlook every day at 12:15 and attach a file before clicking send.

Things to know:
I've tried a script called sendemail.exe that had a load of parameters set and it executes but doesn't seem to send a mail.
My PC that the file is sent from can be left on 24/7 with Outlook running.
I can send from gmail instead if it can be automated.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've Googled for similar ideas such as sending out the same weekly reports on a schedule which led me to the sendmail with batch file idea, but so far I'm still drawing a blank.

I'm assuming you have an SMTP relay server that you can use? If sendmail isn't working, it's possible that either:

The ISP you're using (if you're going over the internet) is blocking outbound SMTP connections. Lots of them do this.

Your Antivirus is blocking outbound SMTP connections. Lots of them do this.

To check, try to telnet to the SMTP server on port 25. If that fails, it's one of the above. If not, it's something else and we'll look again.

I was testing using smtp.google.com but I can't get a connection to it so it must be work's outgoing firewall. Thank you anyway.

Yeah, your firewall is highly likely to not allow outbound SMTP. Find out from your mail team if they have an internal relay that you can use.

I just tryied to log a ticket as I could not access sharepoint with out it crashing..

WHen I submitted the ticket it crashed and lost the info...

Yeah, it's much easier to ignore if it is in the system.
