It is indeed The Bard's Tale 2 - a game that occupied far too much of my time.

What did you play it on ? , i sunk so many hours into the first one on the C64 when i had it on tape only (I then had 2 and 3 on the C64 with the weird codewheels to work out how to go between different lands).

My trusty A500. I don't think I'd have had the patience for that kind of game on tape.
My recollection is a little vague but I think it was in BT2 that we got stuck on one of the puzzles where an NPC asked "what is the password". We had a huge list of words we'd tried without success then my much younger brother suggested we try "Pass". We mocked him, as you do when you are a teenager, and then got very embarrased when that turned out to be the correct answer. :facepalm:

It was published by US gold in 1985 , I had it on the Atari but the screenshot given is from the C64 version
It was created by the 'co-creator' of Boulderdash (not Peter Liepa)
