Hello all,

In the ol' B&B I mentioned some spare invites for http://www.fitocracy.com/, a sort of online exercise tracker motivation thing. Stick your name in here and I'll send out any I have, and we'll form a group and all get fit together!

Invites will be sent shortly!

It's still pretty early days, but basically you track workouts, it gives you points, you level up, it sets you challenges and "quests" ( e.g. Run a mile in under 8 mins for 300xp )

Invites should be travelling down the tubes towards everyone. I've set up the Superfit Beexers group, so we can all motivate / encourage / commiserate / insult each other.

I've been using Noom on Android too, its a free ap that works out what your calorie intake should be and how much you should exercise to get to your goal weight, I really like it so far, it's very doable.

More invites sent.

Noom looks good in that it actually seems to give you advice. This seems much more of a "don't quit, you're only one work out from levelling up" sort of thing.

Yeah, without them actually being at the gym with you, getting all distracting by getting you perv over everyone (even more than you do on yur own and less subtly) and talking crap and saying "Shall we sack this off and get a Chinese?"

Or is that just my friends...?

I like it, a solo workout with the motivation of competition with your bezzies!

I'm off for a Chinese after work tonight and out on the town tomorrow night. I fear I may be rather lagging behind in the points department for a bit. :D

Walking from the office to the chinese counts as exercise! Make sure you log it!

I think everyone who has asked me has now got one, and everyone who has joined should have been invited to our exclusive group. If people have asked and haven't got one within a few mins, let me know.

I shall have a go at this, however my running is currently a bit iffy due to my knee still being a horrible swollen mess.

Not really that in particular, it just seems to have stopped recovering, so I can walk around ok and can run until I hit a down slope and still can't bend it all the way.

I am fitting in quite a lot at the mo. Still, it'll make the fall off if I pick up an injury all the greater!

I'd been planning on using the 'fitness room' at the local swimming pool for a few months. This might spur me on to signing up.

It's been 24 hours since I registered, and I'm not convinced I've lost any weight yet.

I've not seen any activity on your feed yet! Although thinking about it, I suspect 'feed' is the wrong choice of phrase.

Any more needed? I have one left.

I'd be interested to see how the points are worked out for this. I got twice as many points for running 2.2 miles as I did for cycling 11. I'm not sure that's proportional to the actual amount of "exercise" done.

I think it probably is. I can cycle 30-odd miles and just be a bit tired. I run 5 miles and I'm properly knackered.

Yeah, depends how fast you are cycling I guess. I can cycle for ages without even getting to the point of breathing hard whereas running at anything more than a jog speed and I feel like I've done something after a couple of miles.

Ha! Yes - just compared the speeds and my run was actually at a higher speed than my bike ride. Short run on flat versus longer cycle over hills in the mud, but even so that was a pretty slow ride. I'd guess that was why.
