So, essentially, you had a salad.

A salad fried in meat juice.

Just the spellings. I worry when that kind of stuff comes from the customer-facing people I work with - we must send some rubbish out.

Went looking at more Lego Mecha and found this site: http://mechahub.com/

Pretty new site by the looks of things, not many lego builds but some bloody brilliant concept artwork. :luv: :metul:

I've been daydreaming about expensive impulse purchases, at least one of which will see a new thread in the near future. I can't tell you about it in here though or WTB will get huffy.

Pretty good line up really. Taking the kids to The Sandcastle waterpark first thing tomorrow, then on Sunday going up to Toys R Us and Guys Court where there's a bouncy castle festival on :metul:

You up to much?

I will just be house building, I think, exterior rendering. Time to get the cement mixer out, and learn how to Harl. Wet Harl.

I'm very bored. The children decided they wanted an xbox day today so I've been doing housework to occupy myself. Woo.

Not bored enough to clean the bathroom though. Yet.

Tonight I'm going out in fancy dress. Sober. Urgh.

No, although it would fit into that thread pretty well. It's actually (potentially) a custom made arcade machine, although having inquired about prices I'm prepared to waive the custom made bit as long as I can play Wonderboy on it one way or another. It occurred to that this might intersect with the knowledge base of some people on here :nerd:

Apparently Kissyfur has diversified into inventing televisions:

http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/uc ... 10685.aspx

Quote:
"The polarizing organic photovoltaic cell demonstrated by Professor Yang's research group can potentially harvest 75 percent of the wasted photons from LCD backlight and turn them back into electricity," said Youssry Botros, program director for the Intel Labs Academic Research Office, which supported the research.

You could just buy a Wonderboy machine (I have one however since its at my mums house and has not been turned on in 10 years it probably doesn't work) - its also a standard JAMMA connection so if you wanted a real one its probably somewhere around the £150 mark (Or thats what a generic cab plus a board would cost from what i can see)

However you do know you can download MAME and play wonderboy on your PC (or MAC) 'virtually' the same as the arcade one?

Apparently some guy has walked into a hairdressers in the middle of Newport, shot 3 women (none fatally), and left.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-14595676

The BBC showing the sheer quality of their writing staff, also:

Quote:
One eye witnesses said he knew a woman had been shot and that he heard two shots.

Kataru Reddy, who works at the Shell petrol station opposite the salon, said: "I heard two shots. I know that a lady was shot."

That was my first idea but I didn't see any on ebay and went off a-googling in ignorant bliss and found very pretty overpriced alternatives! Very happy to be talked back down to earth though... where are the best places to look for this sort of thing?

For a real cabinet - my first question would be are you sure you want one ?
MAME with a control pad is a very good alternative , or MAME with an arcade stick would get you so much more than a single game.

If you really want the cabinet then do you want a real one (JAMMA) or do you just want a cabinet (which you can then stick a PC into and use MAME)

If you really want the real thing , do you want the *real* thing or will a MAME-like board do (Ebay has plenty of 101 JAMMA boards and they include wonderboy).
Finally do you want the *REAL* thing or would a bootleg do (although my cabinet has a wonderboy marque i'm pretty sure the board inside was a pirated one so its not really a SEGA board) - the difference in the game will be virtually nill but the difference in cost between an authentic SEGA board and a knock off will be pretty high.

As for where to pick it up - Ebay , or check out any arcade suppliers near you (if there are any left) , or the local paper - I bought mine (admittedly a long time ago) from the Yellow paper that came out weekly with loads of 2nd hand adds - cost about 50p at the time for the paper and I think I paid about £100 for the cab (and just squeezed it into a hatchback - not recommended!)

Other suggestion for where to ask would be one of the forums about old arcade games (JAMMA PLUS http://www.jammaplus.co.uk/ )

Lou Thesz and Bob Backlund are more manly, and they're on that list too. It's just rubbish sorting. :)

Somewhere around Leeds, but it must be considered that my grasp of geography is loose at best, and imagine my disappointment when I couldn't see the sea when I went to Manchester.

Define "around leeds" I ask because anywhere west of Leeds is a fucking shit hole. I make no apologies to anyone living west of Leeds, I'm right and you know it.

If anyone mentions Keighley, Skipton or any town near the M65 then punch them in the face and run away very very fast because the chances of you getting a job in any of these places is about the same as finding a 15 year old virgin who lives there. That is of course if your job isn't selling heroin.
