I love the acoustic version of Hollywood. And I normally hate acoustic versions. So that has my 3.

Safri Duo are also pretty good, never heard of them before but I love the beats.

Note that I couldn't find Truck Fulla Amps and it's not the acoustic version of Hollywood.

Whoops - Apologies to the person who I allocated a punishment track to even though they'd sent me a song. Fixed now.

Who knew the Worzels were so popular. It's a shame that Hollywood acoustic version hasn't been available to buy.

It's available on iTunes right now :D

(not that I would know anything about that, I wonder who submitted that song...)

Oh well I'll have to have that then. It wasn't available when the video was released.

Cannae stand that Poison song. Used to be played on rotation in the work toilets and it ruined many a mid-morning shit-skive.

Safari Duo sounds like the menu music for Pro Evolution Soccer 5.

Has to be 3 points to Marina and her silly voice.

To be fair to it, that Posion song is a horrific abomination.

Marina and Them Diamonds is one of those bands I can take or leave, mainly because it's one of those bands where the singer has to display her entire sodding vocal range with Every. Single. WoOOAAAAARRRGHHHHHOHOHOHHHrd. Quite a good song, though.

Safri Duo - jolly good fun.

Self - Something I suspect would really grow on me should it crop up on the radio a lot throughout my working day. Given the lyrics though, I suspect that's not likely to happen any time soon. Plus, I don't get to listen to the radio during my working day.

The BellRays - shouty rock often unlocks my heart. That didn't quite manage it, though. I understand that this might be the single most boring comment you hear about a song throughout the entire S2ng Wars.

Safri, Marina then Self get my points.

Marina is okay, but Lady R reckons the original version is better, so she sadly misses out here.

Poison is apt song for this forum. In B&T's Bogus Journey, they quote the chorus of that song to St Peter to get into heaven. This reference isn't enough for a point however.

Safri Duo appealled enough to my former-drummer in a band to get third place.

Self shocked me and made me laugh heartily. I like swearing, so it gets a top place for me.

The Bellrays are a band I rather liked in my youth. The singer has an extraordinary voice and Godzilla is a cool monster, so two points for this tune.

Does the Safri Duo tune count as a 'song'?

Marina - Oh no. Oh dear me, no. That rubbed me completely the wrong way - I'd never heard of her up until now, and I'd be grateful if someone could erase the last three minutes from my memory so I could keep it that way.

Poison- HAHAHAHAHA! No, seriously? Although considering that Grim... and Craster seem to be the only ones that like it, I now have the horrific idea embedded in my brain that it's their sweaty man-sex song.

Safri Duo - Oh, I like this one! Three points!

Self - Swearing! And it's not actually all that bad. Two points!

The Bellrays - No, not my sort of thing at all, really. Which leaves...

The Wurzels - Well, in all fairness it's the one I like third best, so it gets a point.

That Marina song... I think a song with a keyboard/synth backing can hardly be classed as acoustic! I do like it though, despite not really having gotten into any of her/their other songs beyond this one.

B&T reference aside, the Poison song is horrible, and far, far cheesier than anything the X Factor has churned out.

Safri Duo - Sounds like that one that does on about Samba de Janeiro, or whatever. Just seems very generic. Half expected it to go into the music from the darts too.

Trunk Fulla Amps is catchy and funny and stuff

The Bellrays - good, kinda funky old school stuff. Quite like it.

Ah, The Wurzels... oh dear.

It's using a sound like an acoustic instrument, that's good enough right? Right? Hello? Anyone?

Does it matter? It's a good song regardless, and more importantly, she is looking hot in the video :D

Oh I agree it's a good song, and she's hot, and I gave it 2 points.

It's just like when Nirvana did their 'MTV Unplugged' and used distortion pedals... there's a time and a place.

From memory, he uses at least one effect pedal during 'The Man Who Sold The World'.

Yep, some slight overdrive from the electric guitarist they have on that song, yes. However, Novoselic and Cobain use exclusively acoustic instruments for the entire set.

Oh, well as long as some of the musicians used acousitc instruments it's all fine!

Oddly I give more leeway to Arrested Development's unplugged session still using turntables...

It's all moot anyway, as it's called 'Unplugged' and something has to be plugged in for it to be recorded!

Marina and the Diamonds - Erm, no. Next!

Poison - Can I listen to Marina again, please? This is terrible. Worse than Mr. Big and that ballad by Extreme (I'm pleased that it hasn't appeared yet as a punishment song). The worst song in the competition so far.

Safri Duo - Not my cup of tea.

Self - The best of the group. Not bad. 3 points!

The Bellrays - Quite good. 2 points!

The Wurzels - Well, it isn't poison. Sigh. 1 point.

I'd also be astounded as it would have been 14 years before the first iPhone was even released.
