Well I keep meaning to write stuff, but without a site, there's no point storing up a big batch of my own content when RGCD and the Spectrum Bible series actually exist :)

Chicken and egg though, duds. We can't put the site live without enough content, but if people won't submit content without the site being up....

Well it's certainly taking shape from what I've seen. Mr Gaywood seems to be in charge with others helping and I'm hoping to get some time off work very soon so I'll have a bit of free time for website stuff (I'm barely touching my own site as it is right now). Last thing I was doing was looking for the best way of doing the screenshots to go with the reviews etc. The best one I've seen so far is still lacking a little as it supports captions but only on the thumbnails - it'd be nice to browse through a set of screenshots full-size with accompanying captions. I'm still looking though.

I was also looking into the best way of linking the site with this board but I do wonder if there's even a need for a that - depends what extras the site will have as there's a Joomla arcade thing with high scores, plus I don't know if people want to have comments on articles, that kinda thing.

We have more than enough content already. If the only problem is content, I'll have 3 more for you by tomorrow morning.

Modz and Sub-eds, I thought? And anyone can apply to be a Sub-ed, and the Sub-ed group includes a number of who I believe are non "bezzies" (if I'm interpreting that word correctly).

I thought the URL to the proposed site was public knowledge?

From my experience with this kind of thing, you're better off putting the site live and then worrying about content. Soft-launch, get loads of stuff and then market the thing. Worrying about having 'enough' content to launch just delays things and makes existing content less and less relevant. I know once I got Revert to Saved up, I felt compelled to work on it, because it was there. Had I have stockpiled stuff first, I doubt the site would exist.

That's just a copy & paste job. I think Mr Gaywood's handling that bit too but I can sort that if need be as well.

Well I just guessed the site url (on the first try as well) and I must say the site is is looking very good. The search even works on the site. (Although the stars don't twinkle)

Which is why I'm referring to bezzies. I'm really not saying anything at all controversial. Uh... 'trusted, prominent forumites, astute and formidable industralist giants compared to the lowly (but humble and fine) member that merely tills over the forum topsoil, a collection of predictable names, whose very ubiquitity speaks volumes as to their worth and right to be included'. Y'know, bezzies.

Them, anyway.

Yeah, but if you want to look at the reviews.... I'm sure he won't mind, and in any event I am KING OF THE SUB-EDS and therefore in charge. Of everything.

So the sign of progress you quite recently saw isn't a good enough sign of progress?

Fair enough opinion. Gaywood or whomever, stop slacking at work and get back to the site, you whore.

This is BETEO, after all, myp, so there *must* be things to complain about.

Just throwing an idea out there, we could incourage an idea of lifting content out of the forum (like SA MGS review being on WoS).

On Penny Arcade people often create spectacular OP's or posts, and it would be nice if eds or whoever could lift them out onto the front page.

That way it encourages good foruming at the same time.

Probably that it has taken ages thus far? I mean this as no criticism of Ricardo or anyone else involved, but to be honest I would not have been surprised to learn that it had just kinda died or something. There are loads of reviews ready to go, and the site going up in some form (and being added as a perma-link on the forum) would certainly create enthusiasm, further reviews and articles, etc.

It's just a polite enquiry as to if it is ready to go. Whilst something fantastically flashy would be wonderful, something 'at all' would be really cool too.

Mm, as far as 'showing interest' goes - I was having a conversation no more than a week ago, about specifically reviewing some specific Dreamcast stuff. And not in a 'OMG SONY SUX THE DREAMCAST WAS ACE HEAR IS WHY TWO BUY SOUL CALIBUR!!!' way, but hopefully something a bit different and maybe even being a bit funny. If there's time.

I'm totally serious about a Bezzie Closed Beta by the way. Not saying I should necessarily be one of those participating (I haven't considered it) or owt, but it seems like the sort of half-way house that's required at this stage of development.
