As you might know, I'm getting married next month. Time being short and my friends being difficult to organise, I'm not having a traditional stag, but I figure we can at least do a gaming night instead (which is more my style anyway).

So: on Sat 6th Aug Fri 5th Aug I'm going to have a proper old-school Beex Xbox session. You're all invited. Bring your headsets and your alcohol and let's shoot each other's faces off.

We'll be starting at 7pm and aiming to roll through to whenever people give up (but late). We'll play the following games in the following order, with about an hour or so per game depending on how it's going; I'll post to the "Playing online: now and soon" thread when we change games.

Everyone is welcome but (obviously) these games are capped to 8 players at once so we might struggle to fit people in. Hopefully, the game rotation will encourage people to come and go though, so no-one who wants to play is left out.

  • Gears of War 2 -- Horde if we have less than 6 people, competitive multiplayer with more people
  • Forza 2
  • UT3
  • Burney Pee
  • Bonus latenight round if only four people are left -- Left 4 Dead 1 co-op (because Versus mode smells of wee).
  • Optionally, anything else we think of on the fly.

Hope to see you there!

(old content below)

To avoid dithering, I will use my privileged position to rule with an iron fist and dictate that we rotate through a couple of classic games from our back library, perhaps including (but not limited to) Gears (2), Forza, Left 4 Dead (1, I think), Burny Pee, and UT3. That way people who don't have all the games can still get involved, and we can work around smaller player caps in some games. It might help if we set time limits on each game too (e.g. "we'll be playing Forza from 9-10pm") so people who want to play Forza and not anything else aren't twiddling their thumbs looking at a party full of people playing Gears. Or something. I dunno, I'm winging this, pitch me ideas for how to organise it (and games to include -- and no CoD or Halo, I don't have them and I AM THE BOSS OF THIS) so as to not exclude people.

Do I have your axe?

I have non of those games anymore, but I'll drink and shout at you.

I might still have Gears 2 actually.

I'm trying out my new trendy street hat. It doesn't fit very well. That's a contraction of 'blatantly', or alternatively 'yes'.

In , but three questions :

If its a stag do , does that exclude the various non-male members of the forum ?
Can you expand out the list of stuff you have thats multiplayer
Can you add Bomberman to the list and we can blow each other up as well ?

And a suggestion for the organisation - have a post on here with times your playing each game for and have someone post "we're now changing to game X" , or "we're changing to game X in time Y" to allow people who dont have the current game to get ready to switch (you could also do this using the beexonlinegamingtwitterthingy)

No, of course not!

Uhh, yeah, but I'll need to be infront of my games shelf. I'm really aiming to cover mainstream old school Beex titles here though.

Well, I don't have it, so not unless tons of people say "buy it just for this you fool" ;)

Its 800 microsoft space bucks , a good interpretation of the classic game , supports 8 players online , supports the vision camera , and its a way to probably get Romanista and Mimi to join in.

I think they're doing a monthly deal thing on the dashboard at the moment, so as soon as you can turn your Xbox on, I guess.

Aaaah, don't you need a credit card for that? Or do they accept debit cads?

That's changed from a few years ago, then. I think.

Anyway - yay!

You couldn't initially - at least if you had Switch. The benefit of Visa debit was always that most automated systems thought it was a credit card.

This sounds awesome. If I had an xbox, I'd be right in! Hope you have a topping time anyhow, and that, in classic stag night tradition, you still somehow end up getting drunk and handcuffed naked to some railings.

Halo is the quintessential BeeX game isn't it?

(It's the only one I haven't traded in just in case WTB organises another night.)

BREAKING

My dear friends were caught in the middle of arranging a night at the pub in my honour which is to take place on Saturday 6th. I can't miss that (I don't have enough honour to go around), so I have to move this Xbox shindig to Fri 5th instead -- hopefully that's fine for everyone.

Oh, and I forgot to look at my game shelves last night. I'm still thinking that Gears/BP/L4D/Forza is a good mix of Beex all-time classics though.

Ian Fairies wrote:

I don't have it so we're not playing it ;) This is not to say, of course, that someone shouldn't arrange a Halo night. There isn't enough Beexgaming these days.

Friday night was the night we were planning to drive down to South Wales, kidnap you, helicopter you to Jordan, and leave you cuffed naked to a post in the middle of a Bedouin camp though.

You're just so bloody difficult sometimes.

Why not Friday? Telly is shit after all.

Don't forget to bump the Playing online: Now and Soon thread accordingly in case some are avoiding the stag thread thinking it means an evening out in Cwmbran.

I'm still in for this, and I have ALL TEH GAMEZ! I really need to stop going out and spending money now seeing as I'm gonna have to furnish a house in a month or so, so this is ideal. Also, hopefully this'll encourage a Bezzie Night revival of sorts.

I was pondering this. Seems like the biggest obstacle these days is procrastination. What if we had a system where each week a different beexer was "king", and could set date and time and game at will? Then the next week's King is chosen from that week's turnout.

I was pondering this. Seems like the biggest obstacle these days is procrastination. What if we had a system where each week a different beexer was "king", and could set date and time and game at will? Then the next week's King is chosen from that week's turnout.

We did this, I seem to remember. It lasted about 2 weeks.
