My wife did this for us recently.

All I can recommend is that she did it all online... I'll find out which website she used later but I'm sure someone else will be able to help before I get home and find out. :nerd:

Either go to each of the other suppliers' websites and get yourself a quote, or use a price comparison site like Money Supermarket.

You'll need bills from the last 12 months to get an accurate idea of what you could save. BG are the most expensive at the moment though, so you should be able to find some savings somewhere.

http://www.energyhelpline.com/ are the best price comparison site I've found for this. They give you cash back for switching too.

Bear in mind that BG are currently most expensive as they were the first to increase tarriffs, everyone else is likely to follow. Add about 20% onto any non fixed or capped rate to be comfortable

I'm thinking a fixed rate will be better I can't see prices going down.

One bill won't really do, as you use more in winter than you do in the summer and won't be indicative of a whole year's usage.

This is why I haven't looked at switching yet, as I can only find my last two bills.

British gas may be the most expensive, but they are very good for putting all your usage data online.

:this:

Or via topcashback. I got £80 from Npower last year. It was meant to have a £40 break clause, but I was only there 7 months and they didn't invoke it when I left, probably because they ballsed up the change (took ages, tried to disconnect the man above). Worked out as free gas for the whole time, at any rate.

Leccy to me is just a slang term, lacks the peurility of 'electric' as a noun, which never fails to sound like it is coming out of the mouth of a four year old who isn't confident talking to adults. I think I can rationalise 'leccy' to be a contraction of Electricity that has no other meaning, whereas electric certainly and inarguably does.

Nonetheless I know your pain. Maybe we should both go and have a glass of wet and calm down?

I spend around £150 a month on Gas and Electric (based on 14 months usage)

I use British Gas and I'm sick of them.

1. EON are £250 a year Cheaper

2. They fucked up my house move then marked my credit file with 5 missed payments

3. I had to wait 6 months for shitty £50 credit for item 2

4. Everytime I change anything the stupid cunts send me loads of letters telling me they tried to send me an email to a ukonline email account I used to have. This account is not listed or used anywhere on my account with them

5. I've been waiting 3 weeks for them to call me and book a survey for the "free" insulation. When they do no doubt there will be a 6 week lead time.

All in all they are stupid overpriced wankers and I'm moving.

I doubt E.ON are £250 cheaper now they've just raised their prices.

This allsounds remarkably like my experience with British gas, just minus the being hung up on after waiting on hold for 20 minutes ecause the woman on the other end presumably decided trying to kee an irate customer happy was too much like hard work.

I checked that out by calling them, the saving is after their price raise.

They charge £100 for the insulation though

Don't care if it costs me more I just want rid of BG

Trying to compare the actual prices of various gas tariffs is a living nightmare. As best as I can tell as long as you don't get dropped onto a standard tariff then they all have tariffs that are fairly competitive.

It's worked out well for us switching to their Websaver (or something) tariff for both gas and electric.

uswitch tried to put me on Eon's Help the Aged tarriff. Nowhere in the terms and conditions did it say you had to be a certain age, but the costs were cheaper.

I should have switched after all then.

I only use about £2 a week electric anyway, so it's hardly breaking the bank.
