My mum mentioned to me the other day that she'd found a load of old negative during a clearout. I naturally asked her to send them to me to digitize for the ages and, being an impulsive type, ordered one of these. I haven't yet received the scanner, but I have now got the negatives.

They're not 35mm, they're 110 format. Bugger. Am I still going to be able to use the scanner for this, or is it going to take a further investment?

If they fit in the device, it should be fine, though it sounds like they're a fair bit smaller and will more than likely require cropping each output image if they're in strips.

Don't negatives degrade over time? My dad bought a negative scanner but it turned out a lot of his old pictures had a green tint over them as they'd degraded.

There was a lot that was OK though but it's worth bearing in mind.

As for whether they'll work... aren't the negatives in a sealed case? You'll probably have to break them out of that.

No, they're in strips, so I think Malabelm might be right. The images are about a quarter the size of 35mm though so it might result in titchy images

Not sure what sort of control I'm going to get with the film scanner. If it's crap I'll have to see if I can source a flatbed from somewhere.

Sorry, just seen what you ordered. Looks like it takes a photo than makes a pass across the neg. Hopefully it will be fine though judging by the reviews.
