You are stuck, alone in a room with no doors or windows. The room has no features, save two.

Firstly, there is a tap that dispenses a soup that will keep you alive and healthy. Secondly, there is a tunnel entrance. The tunnel is just the right size for you to wriggle down, with no way of turning back. If you enter, you won't be able to return.

You have no way of knowing if the tunnel stays the same size, ends in a dead end, lava pit or loops back down to the room.

What do you do?

Gotta be the tunnel (assuming no prospect of rescue via other means exists).

A life lived in a cell without human contact, without ever seeing the Earth again besides the confines of those four walls, is not a life worth living.

Use the soup(granted it is warm) to erode away at the walls.

Eat some soup then go down the tunnel.

Have I just woken up there, or do I know why I'm there. How certain am I that I'll never be released?

I think what I would do is wait for a while (a few days to a week) eating the soup (actually I can't stand soup, so who am I kidding) and then if it became obvious that no one was coming, head down the tunnel.

It's primordial soup. You evolved from it.

Presumably you need to excrete the soup at some point? You can't stay in the soup-tap room if it's filling up with raw sewage, so tunnel it is.

I'd rip the tap from the wall, stick it up my arse and shit back through the wall at my captor.

Nope. My bet is that the tunnel leads to a bathroom/toilet facility of some description. It's logical.

Diet and eat no soup for a while, until you are able to wriggle both ways down the tunnel.

Also, leave the tap on and see if you drown in soup, or if it drains through the tunnel.

You must be able to get out of the tunnel as that was the only way in.

I'd probably hang around for a day or so, on the basis that locking me up for no apparent reason isn't particularly logical, so I would expect some attempt at communication to be made.

Then I'd probably start sending text messages to try and get my co-prisoners killed in gruesome ways.

If I could wriggle down that tunnel the moment I realised I was trapped in a room with a tap dispensing only soup, I'd stay there for as long as I could put up with it. In that time, I'd lose loads of weight and could manoeuvre better in the tunnel. Whatever was at the end of the tunnel would determine my next move..........

I suspect that isn't the point of the question, though. Surely everyone would go down the tunnel? It'd be the only thing you'd be thinking of the whole time you were there. Other than "Where do I shit?!" It's like Pandora's box innit, you'd do it eventually. You'd probably try to give yourself some arbitrary time frame and after that passed without rescue, you'd be more tempted. I would probably wait until the point where I started to think I'd rather be dead than in there, at which point I'd have nothing to lose by going down the tunnel.

The soup would still drain....And once you got to such a point in the tunnel, you'd feel out how deep the U bend was. If you needed to, you could push the soup out of the other side by using yourself as a plunger.

I thin khe meant that the sop would stop draining and you would think it was blocked when in fact you could get trhough.

Indeed.

The soup is flavourless. The room has a roof and plain walls. Light comes from the walls, in a 'glow in the dark' stylee

More or less this scenario occurs in a Heinlein novel. Except not soup.

I'd eat the soup, and devise a Plan.

I'd bash the walls a bit, and figure out what it's made of / how it's held together. Also, the soup pipe must go through the wall somewhere, this would be a weak point.

Grease myself up with soup good, and get wriggling!

...

Then work out what to do with the tunnel.
