Were you planning on running 1000 miles or something? I call bobbins to that - add 10% distance every 3 weeks in four (fourth an easier week), and you get to some big distances fairly quickly. And for the really mental challenges, like running a marathon every day for months, people just train on the job. Though you probably need a pressing reason and to be a bit bonkers.

Nope, marathon distance. I'm not really planning, I don't have the motivation and I have never managed to run more than 1500m without my lungs feeling like they would explode and my legs about to collapse....But I had a horrible moment of "Argh! I'm nearly 30! There are people in their 60s with better physical fitness than me, I need to lose weight and get fit and feel better about myself! I know, I'll train so I can run a marathon!" I have no excuse, my kids are nearly old enough to make me a grandmother, I need to get in better shape.

However, as I have never trained for anything or been able to run anywhere, I needed some direction so I have no idea whether that is accurate or achievable but it looks manageable over the time-scale and the distances are small for the first few weeks. Might give it a go....

I'm a runner, but the 5k I did on Saturday was led out, by some distance, by one bloke over 60 and one over 50, but I take your point. Start small, see where you get to, I'd say - look at it in month blocks rather than the end product, otherwise it's a heck of a slog no matter how achievable it says it'll be.

Worth a try though mate! :)

Haven't seen Maiden since '03 (Clive Burr benefit gig @ Brixton Academy), so am really looking forward to it.

Seeing a message on Facebook from my tarantula supplier about "B-Grade stock" made me laugh earlier.

"B-Grade Stock Sale: We are offering the a number of spiders that are imperfect due to bent legs, missing leg or toes but are otherwise healthy."

It then occurred to me that tarantulas are possibly the only creature that you could sell in that state, knowing full well that when the tarantula next moults it will regenerate it's missing legs and toes.

Apparently most people's houses contain on average 15 discarded tarantula appendages.

Justice Minister on BBC4 accepts the dodgy practice of your own insurance company selling on your details to claims management companies after an accident but in the same breath says that's not the problem but injured people who are making claims against those very same insurers.

You can't have your cake and eat it Mr Insurance Industry. Except with this Tory government when apparently you can.

Put using tau would mess up the formula for area of a circle! You'd need a = (τ r 2 ) / 2. And Euler's identity would be even worse - e (i t)/2 + 1 = 0 ! It's a heresy, I tell ya! An affront to nature and to God!

Still oh so tired and coffee isn't helping.

After last night, I can see why Robbie Williams was the only one of the five to have a decent solo career. He's an amazing presence on stage.

Hmm, is it the 'Beanie-Boo' reference that's the bone of contention?

Heh. Oops. I owe a big thanks to Curio for helping with getting the tickets. Also, when RW appeared on stage, I got a funny feeling. After some thinking today, I believe it was 'jealousy'. No, I don't know either. He could have done the windmill song and they would have loved it. And, ye gods, the screaming. Wow.
